Introduction
An effective leader must continually focus on improving their company’s performance. Knowing how to deal with stagnation and looming threats of internal conflicts is a crucial task for any manager. In this case study, the company experiences stagnation due to the slow processing of customer orders. It is my duty as the manager of the establishment to resolve problems that affect employees, using suitable communication strategies.
Problem Analysis
Since there is discontent among employees, I need to understand the nature of their interactions. The work environment may contribute to the problem by discouraging employees from performing at a reasonable level. The humanistic approach to management requires leaders to include their subordinates in discussions and recognize their motivation and willingness to share concerns about issues within the firm (Bell and Martin, 2019).
I can gain significant insight into the efficiency of this strategy through a direct, honest conversation with my workers. Transactional analysis can be applied in this case to enhance cooperation within the group. This approach requires outlining the internal and external boundaries that exist within an organization and how they may impact its performance (Poelje and Graaf, 2021). The discussion between me and my subordinates will be made primarily for data-gathering purposes and must remain as informative as possible.
Feedback plays a vital part in the recovery process, as the reasons behind the decreasing productivity of employees are yet to be discovered. Encouraging a constant stream of workers’ input can be highly beneficial for managers, as it promotes participation, support, gives direction to their decisions, and increases the consistency of their actions (Northouse, 2021). Since the employees are aware of the declining business, this case requires me to align employees and business processes toward a shared objective that may need further adjustments.
Application of the Meaning-Centered Approach
A meaning-centered approach is a concept that I intend to utilize in this case. This method emphasizes adopting the perspective of others, acknowledging mistakes, and providing employees with an opportunity to assist their manager in understanding the root cause of an issue (Omilion-Hodges and Ptacek, 2021). This concept involves communicating with people through listening, absorbing, and reflecting on ideas after thoughtful consideration.
A leader must recognize that conflict is preferable to stagnation, as it fosters discussions about serious and uncomfortable topics, which can lead to innovative solutions (Hynes and Veltsos, 2021). Therefore, I will strive to remain open to any criticism. Moreover, I will speak with all employees simultaneously to allow them to voice their concerns, support their coworkers, and contribute to the group’s vision for our direction. Based on the provided feedback, I will reflect on the aspects of my business that employees consider hindrances to their work and identify ways to address them.
Conclusion
In conclusion, in this case, I would employ a meaning-centered approach and transactional analysis to gather as much feedback as possible regarding the source of stagnation from the perspective of other employees. This strategy will provide me with sufficient information regarding the issue to make a weighted decision that will be supported by workers and remain grounded in reality. The direction of the firm depends significantly on the facts that I can uncover during my scheduled house talk with my subordinates.
