Introduction
I have been a fan of Apple products and MacBook computers, in particular, for many years. Unlike some of their competitors, they have always striven to provide customers with powerful gadgets with an intuitive, user-friendly interface. Moreover, their slick and modern design is always ahead of the competition and is pleasing to the eye, making their products a worthy object of desire. For me, MacBook Air is a paragon of technological progress – it’s a fast, light, and reliable laptop with an exquisite design.
I have been using the previous model for quite some time now, and even though I love it, it can’t handle some demanding tasks anymore. That’s why I decided to buy a new MacBook Air M1. I purchased it only a few days ago, and it has been performing above my expectations so far. I feel that the upgrade was worth it, and I am especially pleased with the processing speed, usability, and design of the new model.
Processing speed
For me, processing speed is a crucial factor in choosing a laptop, and the new MacBook Air certainly delivers an impressive performance. While I normally enjoy using my computer to its full capability, I haven’t discovered this model’s limits yet. With my old laptop, using demanding graphic design software was always an issue. I could not afford to run multiple programs simultaneously, as its performance would deteriorate significantly. With the new model, I can work in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Photoshop while having several apps (including Safari with ten to fifteen open tabs) running in the background. The new 3.2 GHz M1 processor seems to handle these tasks effortlessly. Moreover, all programs open instantly, and it takes virtually no time to wake the new MacBook Air when it’s in sleep mode. While these are small details, they make the experience of using the laptop more satisfactory.
Usability
Apple computers have always been popular among musicians, artists, and designers. According to How-to-Geek, the secret behind their success is that they offer a lot of creative tools with a simple, intuitive interface. One doesn’t have to be a computer geek to make the most out of Apple products, and that’s why I love MacBook Air. As a person who spends hours in front of the computer every day, I want to focus on doing things that matter to me. Many years ago, when I didn’t have a MacBook, I used to waste a lot of time trying to figure out how to make the software work properly. I’ve never had to face these issues again since I have switched to Apple computers.
The usability of the new model is on par with Apple standards, and in some ways, it is better than its predecessors. I particularly love the new Magic Keyboard, which works much better than the “butterfly keyboard” on my old MacBook. The keys on the previous generation of MacBooks could get stuck and become unresponsive, but the new model doesn’t have any issues. Also, I appreciate the improved battery life, as I can work for hours without having to worry about charging my laptop. Yesterday, after nine hours of intense use, I noticed that the battery was still at 35%. I was very impressed, considering my old laptop would have hardly lasted six hours without a charger.
Design
Apple laptops are often praised for their design, and the new Air M1 is not an exception. It features a slick, reliable aluminum chassis and remains one of the thinnest and lightest laptops on the market. Arguably, while it looks great, it is not very different from the previous models. However, I like the fact that there are no fans in the new model. I easily become distracted by any noise when working on a project or watching a movie, so, from my perspective, the removal of fans is an improvement.
Overall, I believe that Apple has done a decent job designing the new model. The previous MacBook Air 2018 was already nearly perfect, and Apple engineers kept the design the same while addressing some critical issues. The only possible shortcomings are relatively wide bezels, which could be made thinner, and the limited number of ports. However, these issues are relatively insignificant, especially considering the significant improvement in the performance of the new processor.
Conclusion
For $999, MacBook Air is probably the best deal on the market right now. With the new M1 processor, it is capable of handling demanding tasks much faster than its predecessors. The model features easily recognizable Apple’s trademark design with some tweaks to improve user experience. The battery life is remarkable, and it easily outperforms any competitor. As someone who has been a loyal Apple customer for years, I always have high expectations for their products. However, after only a few days of using my new MacBook Air, I can say that this laptop is by far the best Apple computer I’ve ever had.
