Being a public health nurse manager working at Harlem United, I am obligated to shed the light on a health care issue that is currently impacting Harlem’s population rampantly just as it has been over the years. The health care issue is no other than mental health. The issue is primarily due to underlying and institutional problems, such as unequal community earnings, an absence of decent, housing affordability, poor availability to good diets, a paucity of secure places to exercise, a lack of interpersonal assistance, worries about community safety, and complexity getting access to mental health care.

State aid for general public health work is formally authorized under Article 6 of the Public Health Law (GPHW). Community assessment, family health, disease control, health education, and environmental health are the five core public health sectors that local health departments must address in order to get part reimbursement under the GPHW program (Shah, 2018). Additionally, reimbursement is given for elective public health services, such as some environmental health services, accredited home health agencies, public health laboratories, and emergency medical services. Since municipalities are not compelled to offer certain services, they are regarded as optional (Stoto et al., 2019). (Sec. 109) The Inter-Departmental Serious Mental Illness Coordinating Committee must be established by HHS in order to report on research, assess the impact of government initiatives, and suggest agency measures for more effective administration of mental health services.

You as the Chair of the Health Committee, I would ask you to see to it that mental health is curbed to the core as this issue majorly affects the youth and the adults as they are basically who make up the better part of the community. With this I believe the community will make great progress health wise and focus their energy on what matters most.
