Guidelines and Expectations
When examining the guidelines and the advice offered, it became immediately obvious that what is expected of me is the creation of a research paper that is in line with the academic standards of the University. This can include aspects related to the utilization of academic articles, proper research citation, and the use of the University’s guidelines on ethical research. Other expectations that come to mind are the implementation of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling as well as ensuring that my work is plagiarism-free.
All in all, a lot is expected of me in developing a proper research paper since it is a reflection of all that I have learned within the University thus far. It will help to show the effectiveness of both the teachers and courses that I have taken up in molding me into an individual possessing the appropriate levels of knowledge and academic insight to be able to write a paper of this nature.
Questions That I Have
In evaluating my capacity to write a research paper, several questions come to mind:
- Where can I get inspiration to develop the topic I need for my paper?
- What is considered “acceptable” for research paper topics?
- Can I have access to past student papers that have researched the same topic so that they can act as a guide for my paper?
- Do thesis mentors adopt a hands-on or hands-off policy when it comes to helping students with their research papers?
- Can I utilize outside editorial services to make sure my paper is in line with proper academic standards in language and grammar?
It is these and other such questions that I am constantly taking into consideration when it comes to writing my paper. The answers to these questions are more likely to be answered by my thesis mentor than anyone else, as such; I will wait for the research period to start before asking such questions.
Impact of Public Administration on Social Change
Public administration has a considerable impact on social change since it directly affects the processes that go into managing the continued well-being of a local community. Through my research in this field of study, I could potentially develop new approaches that could resolve long-standing problems in public administration. This could encompass processes that are more efficient, expedient, and self-sufficient thus resulting in the provision of better services to the general public.
On the other end of the spectrum, my research could also potentially result in the privatization of current public services to private companies resulting in operations that would become better operated since they are established on a private-sector framework rather than the current framework used by the government (Shengelia et al., 2005). While these are all merely “potential accomplishments”, the fact is that they could very well become possibilities given enough time, resources, and academic drive to examine all facets of the current methods of public administration.
For me, my contribution to my profession would have to be the development of a decision framework for the creation of public administration policies that are more in line with the needs and desires of the general public. All too often, public administrators establish policies that may seem appropriate on paper, however, when established they tend to create the adverse public sentiment. I want to be able to create a decision framework that resolves such issues and helps decision-makers to better understand what the public wants out of them.
