My mission statement as a nurse is to passionately offer complete and competent nursing care to all clients and their family members. I vow to uphold integrity, courteousness, professionalism, and cautiousness throughout my nursing career. I pledge to continuously improve my knowledge of nursing care provided by progressing with my education to acquire relevant and updated care methodologies that are in use and evidence-based.
Nursing training involves rigorous practice and commitment throughout the studying period. Studies have proven that nursing is the most stressful education program involving theoretical and clinical classes (Ahmadi et al., 2020). These facts have made it challenging for nursing students to acquire the skills needed in care provision. In extreme cases, most students quit nursing schools for alternative career choices (Ahmadi et al., 2020). In my mission, therefore, I seek to stay passionate as a nurse and a lifetime nursing student both in my clinical practice and educational advancements.
The main challenge that requires immediate solutions in nursing is burnout. It is the leading cause of medical errors that occur during care provision. Units, where nurses experience burnout, include burns, oncology, intensive care and neonatal (Ahmadi et al., 2020). The main reasons for such units include staff shortages and high numbers of patients requiring care. Exhaustion among caregivers may lead to poor service delivery caused by their stress, consequently leading to low satisfaction levels.
Most nurses have, at some point, had to ask themselves why they became nurses. This is related to the reality shock they encounter in the care facilities. There is a disconnect between classwork and genuine nursing care (Ahmadi et al., 2020). As a nurse, I hope never to get to such moments in my practice. In my experience, the only disturbing reality has encountered the physical toll on my body.
As a nurse, I have vowed to forever stick to my mission and provide the best care possible. The statement is of great salience, and it positively impacts my career. By following it diligently, I will be able to improve my services and ensure my clients are always satisfied with the care I provide. Care outcomes will also improve as the patients receive the proper management. My mission statement also plays a crucial role in my career advancement as a nurse. It allows me to expand my knowledge of the new nursing care modalities that are evidence-based and will provide effective outcomes.
