Introduction

In the developing world, the use of mobile health should be addressed as it might help boost the industry’s development and improve customer experience. Sim (2019) states that using the mobile healthcare application can decrease negative feedback and long waiting times. As the Health IT Director at Trident Hospital, I have developed a basic plan of application development to motivate patients to switch to digital service provision. The table below shows all relevant standards that should be considered while developing an application to achieve the digital goals of Trident Hospital. These elements include various security aspects, user experience profiles, and integration into the existing systems of the medical center.

Developing Standards for Mobile Health Applications

Table 1 – Elements and Standards for Mobile Health Application Development.

HIPAA complianceAll legal acts should be followed
UX/UI designThe design should be easy, functional and appealing to the users
Access to disabled peoplePeople with different medical conditions should be able to use the app. For example, the audio system for blind people should be introduced
Data encryptionPatients’ data should be stored securely without leakages in personal data
AuthenticationTwo-factor authentication to meet security standards
Information about illnessFolders with the clear facts about different medical conditions
Users’ portalsDoctors should be able to leave notes, and patients should have a change to make an online appointment
Data privacyInternational data privacy laws should be taken into consideration, including GDPR and CCPA
Data backup and storageRegular backups should happen to save information and allow patients and doctors to see personal history
Minimization of unnecessary functionsQuick loading time and adequate amount of services available in the app

The application will have an educational context to ensure patients can find relevant information about their conditions without attending a specialist. The list of symptoms will be developed with the help of practitioners so people do not have to find information from non-reliable sources. For example, during COVID-19, many people were googling the symptoms of coronavirus, and every website gave different information, making people more confused (Walker et al., 2020). Therefore, access to approved information through the app can positively change patients’ experiences.

Security is also taken seriously, and two-factor authentication will be introduced to protect personal data and medical records. The world is fast-changing, and people want to use quick and comfortable applications to spend less time understanding the interface and techniques (Nazir et al., 2019). Therefore, the optimization of provided services will be conducted to help patients make their lives easier and decrease the number of tasks for medical experts.

Conclusion

In conclusion, developing mobile health applications for Trident Hospital has massive potential for further growth and positive patient experiences. Access to reliable information developed by professional workers can educate more people and avoid neglect of health in individuals. The early recognition of symptoms can also allow people to prevent serious consequences and get urgent help.

Therefore, the whole industry can be boosted, and professionals will have more time to study new conditions and related symptoms. The mHealth application standards table provides all the requirements for creating the program. When all criteria are encountered, the well-being of patients can increase significantly. With the right approach to these elements, Trident Hospital’s mHealth app can raise awareness and improve patients’ loyalty by expanding the healthcare journey and raising the quality of life.
