Terrorism these days is very different from what it used to be only several decades ago. The modern terrorism movements employ all the latest gifts of the technological progress to make their attacks and actions more effective, their soldiers – more professional and their coordinators – more connected. These changes create a significant impact on the results and outcomes of the terrorist attacks and strengthen the off state agents immensely. The war on terrorism conducted several decades ago used to be much simple technologically because the terrorists experienced serious disadvantage in the aspect of weaponry, equipment, military intelligence. They basically were groups of amateur fighters without any knowledge of military strategies and tactics. After the events of 9/11, when the United States actively joined the war on terrorism the off state groups received a great opportunity to learn and improve, besides, as it is seen in the video called “The End of Sykes-Picot”, the terrorists have succeeded at taking over the American equipment, so to a certain extent, the war on terrorism and the United States’ generous sponsorship of it provide a number of benefits for the terrorism supplying them with knowledge and equipment of the last generation (Zelin 2014).

Sykes-Picot agreement is a secret covenant singed between Great Britain and France with the participation of Russia and Italy in 1916 after the end of the First World War. According to this agreement, the most influential European states shared the Middle Eastern territories, which caused a division of the Middle East. The promises given to the Middle Eastern leaders about the creation of the indigenous governments on these territories were never kept. As a result, the modern terrorist movements such as ISIS fight for the establishment of the unified Muslim state in the Middle East.
