Industry Identification

Renewable energy as an industry has been with us since the beginning of mankind. Solar energy was used by the forefathers to dry food and to generally heat themselves. Wind energy was used by sailors and in several other duties. The water current was used to propel boats. When non-renewable energy was discovered, specifically the petroleum products, the non-renewable energy was completely forgotten. It has now come to our realization that non-renewable energy is not able to sustain the world. They pollute the environment, and they may be depleted. This has seen a shift of attention to the renewable energy sector.

Renewable energy is a relatively new industry but developing very rapidly. Since the early 1990s, a lot of attention has been given to solar energy. Colorado State is one of the states in the US that has given attention to this sector.

Problem Definition

The renewable energy industry is growing at a considerably high speed. Namaste Solar is assured of growth and sustainability. However, market competition is getting very stiff as more companies join the market, while others go public, thereby increasing their capital base. This has put Namaste Solar in a precarious position, as it must be able to withstand increased market pressure. Jones and his team must therefore find a solution to this as soon as possible

Need Analysis

The market is considerably large. The need for Namaste Solar’s products is huge as many individuals and organizations turn to renewable energy as the preferred source of energy. Despite the presence of other firms in this market, there is still sustainable demand for this product in the market. However, there exist some boundaries that its marketing team should take note of. The energy from renewable sources may not supply enough energy for heavy commercial industries. They must be in a position to justify the value such a company would add by acquiring their solar energy.

Criteria

Namaste Solar has already penetrated the market. Its brand is known and the sales are positive. However, other companies are growing at a faster rate, posing the danger of stiff competition. For this reason, this company should develop criteria that would ensure that it remains afloat in the market. It should take such consideration as identifying with a specific niche in the market, charging prices that are friendlier, value addition to their current products, or increased after-sale services that would increase customer satisfaction.

Alternatives

Alternatively, it can consider merging with competitors. This would expand their capital base and market penetrability, and increase the number of personnel resource. However, this method would limit Namaste Solar freedom in this renewable energy industry. The profits will also have to be shared and some decisions may take longer for there would be a need for consensus between the two companies.

Key Success Factors

The line between success and failure is very thin. For Namaste Solar to achieve success in the market, the most important thing would be to understand the need of the market and be in a position to satisfy this need in the best way possible. It should also be creative and innovative in its production of photovoltaic solar systems and other related gadgets.

Strategy

To achieve the above, the company should consider conducting market research to understand the market needs. It should then develop products that would respond to these needs. Namaste Solar should also be in a position to create solar panels and other related gadgets with features that are new and desirable to the market.

Implementation of an Alternative

If Namaste Solar decides to merge with another company, it would first need to communicate this information to the company. It would then set the modalities with the company in case it accepts the invitation. Finally, the two companies can run as a unit.
