It can be argued that one of the reasons the company was able to secure this position in the market is its corporate culture, which fosters high productivity, innovation, and enhanced performance. One of the principles Netflix adheres to is the flexibility around work and vacation, which allows employees to determine their own vacation time and have flexible working hours (Netflix, 2019a).

Allowing workers to have control over their working hours and vacation increases motivation, as the policy creates an environment of trust, improves the working experience, and fosters a sense of responsibility. In addition, Netflix operates without a formal performance measure system, such as a KPI, being implemented (Netflix, 2019b). Such an approach can motivate employees to perform better in their roles, as they can focus on achieving the team’s goals rather than merely meeting the outlined expectations.

Netflix culture should be considered a model for developing a practical HR philosophy. The HR philosophy for my organization would focus on fostering a supportive environment that enables each employee to grow professionally and achieve their set goals.

One element that the philosophy would include is the incorporation of flexible working time as well as the opportunity to work remotely. Expecting employees in different circumstances to commit to strict working hours is counterproductive. Furthermore, flexible working hours are likely to lead to improved productivity, increased job satisfaction, and a greater commitment to the company. Another element of the proposed HR philosophy is the focus on employee growth. The company will support employees in their professional development and offer them opportunities for training.

The final element of the HR philosophy is employee autonomy. Thus, within the scope of their job description and the projects assigned to the team, employees will be allowed to choose the tasks they work on and have complete control over how these tasks are achieved. In summary, the proposed philosophy will prioritize employee development, growth, and autonomy to facilitate enhanced company outcomes.
