Technologies are now developing quickly and have already become a part of our everyday life. In particular, personal devices for professional communication, which every person has. The tendency to use smartphones has increased. They began to be used even more during the day. It is worth noting that among medical workers, many people often use their devices during the working day. The pros and cons of using personal communication devices during work are worth considering.

The use of smartphones has a positive effect on the work of nurses and their productivity. According to research, medical personnel who used personal devices often received effective improvement: ” reduction of the time needed to search for information, flexible access to patient’s clinical information, encourage the simultaneous development of multiple activities with positive effects on self-efficacy” (Fiorinelli et al., 2021, p. 4). In this way, we can see that using personal communication devices during work can have a positive effect not only on the staff but also on her work with patients.

Despite all the above, the use of mobile devices can also have the negative results for a medical worker. The study conducted by Fiorinelli et al. (2021) also shows the adverse effects of using personal communication devices. The use of smartphones lowered and negatively affected the effectiveness of nurses: “use of the smartphone for personal purposes (social networks, e-mails) can adversely affect interdisciplinary communication and induce a deterioration in the nurse’s performance” (Fiorinelli et al., 2021, p. 2). Therefore, it is worth using personal means of communication only for professional use and to improve efficiency.

I believe that they should still use corporate devices for professional communication. Yes, indeed, the use of personal smartphones can also bring impressive results, but not all employees will be able to perform their work well. However, corporate technologies make it possible to protect employees from the negative influence of social networks and do not distract medical workers from their work and can improve it.

It is using a smartphone while working can significantly improve team communication. It is worth saying that the use of smartphones is an essential component for every person. Therefore, professional communication of medical workers will help improve the robot team and make certain adjustments. Smartphones offer more benefits than pagers, that can argue that such communication can increase work efficiency and improve work processes.
