These days, the field of medicine is actively developing, and this fact apparently shapes nursing education. In addition, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic cannot be underestimated in this regard. It aggravated the problem of nursing shortage and the urgent necessity to prepare the next generation of specialists in this sphere (Shanna, 2020). It should be mentioned that even before the COVID-19 outbreak, nursing educators had to use their creativity in order to accelerate the graduation process (Shanna, 2020). Moreover, the educational settings have to pursue this aim in the context of online learning, which cannot fulfill all the needs of comprehensive nursing training (Shanna, 2020). This format of teaching caused some delays in the process of obtaining essential knowledge and especially practical skills.
If I were a nursing educator change agent, I would attempt to address the current problem of specialist lack using all the possible measures. From my perspective, a possible solution could be establishing an intensive program of education. In the context of pandemic restrictions, I would adapt the theoretical part of the program to digital technologies, which could be easily accessed. As for practical lessons, the sufficient solution could be choosing the essential topics and conducting classes using all the preventative measures. Some practical lessons may be substituted, for instance, by a test, in which a particular situation is described, and a student is required to write appropriate actions.
The importance of research and investigation into specific topics in the context of the nursing educator role is evident. It develops critical thinking, allows to receive an in-depth insight into the issues, and engages in the subject and profession in general. In addition, it teaches attention to details, organization, and comprehension of informed consent and its significance. These features are vital for managing a change based on research.
