Changes in healthcare reimbursement are still anticipated in the future following a thorough review of the state of activities in the healthcare industry in the past and present. The insurance payer, the hospital, and the condition affect healthcare reimbursement. Some necessary adjustments are being made to the healthcare reimbursement system to meet the demands of universal healthcare and healthcare requirements. ACOs (Accountable Care Organizations) and the ACA are two examples of the new policies introduced and implemented (Affordable Care Act). The policy of Accountable Treatment Organizations was implemented to reduce healthcare expenses while enhancing care quality. The Affordable Care Act was created to encourage performance- and value-based compensation. Therefore, the focus of this article will be on how these changes are communicated to the nursing staff and how to raise nurses’ awareness of healthcare finance difficulties.

Organizations are making several judgments in their actions due to their intense concern over the changes in reimbursement. Making wise judgments in the healthcare industry emphasizes communicating the reimbursement difficulties to the key stakeholders, including the nursing staff. Shared governance is one of the critical strategies utilized at my place of employment to communicate the changes to the nursing staff. This strategy involves involving the nursing staff, which fosters nurses’ accountability and engagement in executing new reimbursement modifications (Padula et al., 2021). The shared governance method aids in informing the nurses of the organization’s financial objectives. The level of nurses’ awareness of corporate financial goals has significantly grown as a result of shared governance. This rise is effectively communicated by having specific financial objectives that tend to direct all organization stakeholders. As part of the implementation of team-based care, adjustments to reimbursement are also communicated to the nursing staff. On the other hand, team-based care places the nursing staff at the core of healthcare reimbursement to guarantee that nurses provide thorough and economical treatment.

The buy-ins are another strategy my employer does to inform the nursing staff of the new reimbursement changes. The buy-in of the nursing staff supports change by fostering creativity, expanding opportunities, and addressing internal and external challenges. This strategy is being used in my place of employment by raising awareness of the anticipated changes and resulting in the sense of urgency (Padula et al., 2021). The nursing leaders are now employed to communicate with the nursing workforce after this step of creating awareness. The degree of influence the nursing leaders have over the nursing team is considered when choosing them in this situation. The nurses must then provide feedback to consider their suggestions when making modifications.

There are various ideas on how to help nurses become more knowledgeable about issues related to healthcare financing. One recommendation is to emphasize the efficiency of healthcare budgeting more. By including nurses in healthcare budgeting decision-making, the effectiveness of healthcare budgeting can be improved (Naranjee et al., 2019). This would greatly aid in inspiring the nursing staff to work harder on healthcare budgeting’s efficacy, which helps to reduce financial losses. Another idea is for the healthcare system to provide the nursing staff with training and growth opportunities. This will give nurses additional knowledge and skills related to money management and healthcare financing.

Finally, it calls for these modifications to be communicated to the nursing staff to adequately address the reimbursement changes. By using strategies like buy-ins and share governance, they can be distributed. Nurses are expected to participate in decision-making when these changes are being considered. This type of empowerment also contributes significantly to solving healthcare organizations’ financial problems. It is also advised to provide nursing staff with training and development services to develop critical healthcare financing and financial management skills. This will raise nurses’ understanding of concerns related to healthcare funding.
