Introduction
This report’s analysis of the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary’s current situation aims to point out prospective areas for organizational growth. A non-profit group called The Happy Herd offers aid and support to both domestic and wild animals. The organization is required to operate within the bounds of the rules and regulations of Canada and British Columbia, and its primary funding source is the donations of individuals and corporations.
I have examined Happy Herd’s current condition to find these prospective chances, as well as the main problems and laws that the company must comply with, the rivals’ activities in the non-profit sector, and other pertinent data. The foundational information about the nonprofit organization, its operational activities, and the services provided by the Happy Herd are the problem/opportunity, according to my research. By offering viable solutions to enhance Happy Herd’s charitable endeavors and offerings, this paper will address this issue.
Message
The report largely identifies potential areas for improvement in the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary’s charitable operations and services. I’ve determined the issue/opportunity to be the fundamentals of the charity, the charity operations, and the services of Happy Herd after thoroughly analyzing the organization’s internal systems and processes. This study will outline alternative solutions for resolving this issue and maximizing the effectiveness of the charity by luring in more donors and volunteers, raising public awareness of the care of domestic and farm animals, and presenting alluring deals with distinctive mementos. This report will also include a timetable for the next work, a summary of the study’s findings and recommendations, and a request for comments. I have no doubt that Happy Herd will be able to capitalize on its potential and carry out its mission to improve the lives of all animals after reading this study.

This report is for first-year accounting students who are unsure of their career path. The existing situation of the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary is thoroughly examined in this paper, and it also suggests potential directions for organizational growth. Such students will benefit from a better comprehension of the organization’s goals, missions, and services, as well as the non-profit industry in which the organization operates and the rivals in the field of interest (Griffler, 2019). The survey, problem/opportunity definition, and task scheduling are also included in this report. Students may learn more about the company, its functions, and its services as a result of this information.
Response
This report’s main objectives are to outline the present circumstances at the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary and highlight potential areas for organizational growth. The report is based on thorough research and considers both the organization’s internal and external factors. The report’s primary goal is to find ways to enhance Happy Herd’s charitable operations and services. In order to achieve this, the report comprises a scenario analysis of the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary, a definition of the issue/possibility, and a timeline and list of impending tasks. Additionally, this study summarizes the activities of the rivals in the non-profit sector and offers potential fixes for the issues found. Additionally, a diagram of Happy Herd’s organizational structure and the survey questions are provided.
I have discovered opportunities to enhance Happy Herd’s charitable endeavors and services through this report. It is crucial to realize that Happy Herd’s principal source of funding is the financial support of all concerned individuals. Thus, in this situation, attention must be paid to reviewing, altering, and enhancing a number of financial management procedures. The Happy Herd can take inspiration from its rivals and present enticing deals that allow customers to donate money in exchange for unusual gifts or the chance to snap photos with some animals (Hustinx et al., 2022). Additionally, a crucial resource is labor, which is also a resource like money (Yang & Northcott, 2019). It’s critical to draw volunteers since they keep the environment where the animals dwell clean and welfare-oriented. The Happy Herd is able to design and carry out initiatives that entice people to volunteer their services for free.
Scope
The goal of this project is to assess the current situation at the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary and suggest potential directions for organizational growth. I have thoroughly investigated the situation, assessed the main problems and laws affecting the charity, and looked at what the rival organizations are doing in the volunteer sector. I have also found opportunities to enhance Happy Herd’s charitable endeavors and offerings. I’ve also included a timeline, a list of future tasks, and a summary of the report’s conclusions. The political, economic, or social context in which the Happy Herd functions is not covered in this report. Additionally, a review of the organization’s financial performance and an external audit are not included in this report. Furthermore, no legal or regulatory issues that might affect Happy Herd are taken into account in this report.
Procedure/Methodology/Sources
In order to undertake a thorough situation analysis of the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary for this research, I consulted a number of sources. I have carefully examined Happy Herd’s official website, written materials, and other sources of information about the group’s traits and activities (Happy Herd Donations, n.d). Additionally, I have gathered information from the legal documents that govern Happy Herd’s operations, such as the Income Tax Act, Charitable Purposes Preservation Act, and Trustee Act. In addition, I looked into the non-profit activities of Happy Herd’s rivals and compiled data on the overall charity donations made in Canada in 2020 from the Statista Research Department (Statista Research Department, 2022). In order to get a firsthand understanding of Happy Herd’s internal procedures and operations, I have also spoken with the founder and head of Happy Herd, Phil Yoo, and the operator, Diane Marsh.
Glossary
The Happy Herd, opportunities, and internal and external factors are keywords. The Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit with the purpose of defending and assisting farm animals, is known officially as The Happy Herd. Happy Herd’s mission, budget, services, and legislation are just a few examples of the internal and external issues that might affect how Happy Herd operates and provides for its customers (The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary, n.d). Opportunities are possible enhancements that could be made to Happy Herd’s operations and offerings, such as gaining more public approval and trust, luring contributors and volunteers, and enhancing offerings.
Organization Plan/Forecast
Based on pages 454–464 of the textbook, a clear structure has been used to organize this study. It is seven pages long and addresses the following subjects: Situation Analysis, Organizational purpose, the organization’s main budget, its mission and services, the non-profit sector in which it operates, issues, regulations, and laws that affect it, An illustration of the management team and the organizational structure of the business, information on what the sector’s competitors are doing, a survey, a definition of the problem or opportunity, a schedule of upcoming tasks, and a conclusion.
The sections on Situation Analysis and Problem/Opportunity Definition analyze Happy Herd’s existing situation and point out potential directions for organizational growth. The sections titled Upcoming Tasks and Tasks Schedule list the tasks that must be finished when in order for the organization to reach its full potential. The Conclusion section summarizes the findings and recommendations of the report and asks for feedback.
Examining the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary and identifying prospective opportunities for organizational growth constitute the research problem covered in the study. The purpose of the report is to give first-year accounting students a greater grasp of the organization’s objectives, missions, offerings, and the non-profit sector as a whole. The intended outcome is for students to better understand the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary and be able to spot possible opportunities for organizational development (The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary, n.d).
The founder and executive of Happy Herd were interviewed as part of the research process, and the activities of Happy Herd’s competitors, as well as the total amount of charitable donations made in Canada in 2020, were also looked into (Happy herd donations, (n.d). Other sources consulted included the official website and legal documents of Happy Herd.
The report’s main conclusions are that the Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary is a charitable organization that helps and supports both domestic and wild animals. Alonso et al. (2020) add that individual and corporate donations are the organization’s main source of funding. The company must abide by all Canadian and British Columbian laws and regulations.
The Happy Herd is dealing with a lot of problems and difficulties that must be resolved in order to guarantee its success and expansion. The organization’s present services and methods of operation fall short of what the animals under its care need. The report suggests that Happy Herd concentrates on boosting its financial resources by creating an efficient fundraising strategy to draw in more donors and volunteers and organizing promotional campaigns and events to educate the public about the care of domestic and farm animals (Arnon et al., 2022). There is also the development of incentive programs that provide donors and volunteers with special gifts and mementos in exchange for their donations, and more volunteers are being enlisted to assist them in their daily operations.
Conclusions
- Both domestic and wild animals can receive assistance and support from The Happy Herd Farm Animal Sanctuary, a charitable organization.
- Donations from individuals and businesses are the organization’s main source of funding.
- The company is required to abide by Canadian and British Columbian laws and regulations.
- To ensure the success and expansion of The Happy Herd, a number of problems and difficulties must be resolved.

Recommendations

- To educate the general public about the proper treatment of domestic and farm animals, the organization should organize advertising campaigns and events (Yang & Northcott, 2019).
- The charity should create incentive programs that provide special gifts and keepsakes to contributors and volunteers in exchange for their contributions.
- The group should concentrate on enlisting more volunteers to assist with everyday tasks and make sure the animals’ living conditions are healthy and animal welfare-focused (Ott & Dicke, 2021).
- The company should also improve its online visibility by setting up social media pages and websites that detail the company and its offerings. By doing this, the group will be able to reach more people and increase its visibility.
