Introduction
Virtual distance is a psychological state in which a person can feel detached. The main reason for such an emotional state is the lack of eye contact with people. Usually, the reason for this state is technology, on which a person spends the most time, replacing live communication. Digital communication technologies have the worst influence on the emotional state and develop the effect of lost opportunities, which carries even more negative psychological consequences for a person.
Steps to Reduce the Distances
Looking at today’s business issues, you can see that there is also a disconnect from the team, which often has negative consequences. It is known that now there are many different distances, which usually divide people into certain separate groups. In particular, the division into separate groups makes the problem of alienation and exclusion even greater. To avoid and reduce such feelings, some researchers offer several solutions.
To unite the team qualitatively, even if a distance separates everyone, it is advised to involve four factors: culture, relations, sociality, and interdependence. According to Lojeski and Reilly (87), the correct organization of meetings using such a pyramid will allow people to unite and feel close to each other. In particular, an essential step for the long-term perspective of cooperation in the team is to eliminate affinity distance, which usually destroys relationships. Thus, finding commonalities and involving the whole team is crucial (Lojeski and Reilly, 94). The vision and understanding of similarities create a desire for communication and dynamics in a relationship or a group.
Improving Team Effectiveness
Since teamwork is essential, it is worth organizing and making quality communication that would allow us to work together. In this case, Lawler (152) first emphasizes that several essential approaches will help organize the team on an emotional level. In particular, managers and bosses must treat everyone equally, thus showing equality in the company; this often motivates people to cooperate. The second important thing is also the reaction of the leading officials to the situation, equally and actively involving people in joint actions (Lawler 151-152). The third meaningful way, one of the best organizational terms, is motivating your employees.
The third point is one of the best solutions for a team project because it involves several essential facts. First, motivation should be based on personal success and understanding the global impact. Explanation and analysis of the environmental impact will allow such a reason.
Lawler (152) emphasizes that it is essential that such inspiration is partly created by the employees themselves and combined with their ideas. The last important point is to understand and consider all types of people and their needs in the team. It is easy to make a critical motivation for the team by performing such functions.
Analytics 3.0
Many famous companies very often adhere to only one strategy for a long time. Some researchers say such actions are permissible but cannot exist permanently. It is worth considering that the management should promote and focus on only one crucial step – the information nationalization of its business (Davenport 70). Such a thing fits into almost all types of business. Since the product must constantly be modernized and meet modern-day needs, analysts and analytical teams must be able to work well and combine different technologies, both past and present.
Implications of Theory for the Leader
First of all, the leader must always try to unite the team. Accordingly, such a person is entrusted with the great responsibility of finding possible contact points for the team. In particular, maintaining team spirit and overcoming virtual distance is crucial for a leader (Lawler 151-152). In this way, a person becomes the primary person responsible for combining all possible approaches to building the project and creating the right motivation for all team members. It is essential to understand that such a theory gives the manager more responsibilities in terms of organization and responsibility for developing a plan for the team (Lawler 155). Thus, if it is impossible to unite all people, it will negatively affect the person and their reputation.
Ethical Issue
In the future, many problems will be related to compliance with specific ethical actions in companies and corporations. Many social groups and various people will determine all this. The issue will be that it will not be possible for everyone to create a comfortable work environment because individuals will usually suffer from the introductions they make from the outside (Davies and Crane 80).
The desires and initiatives of different groups of people may not coincide and absolutely cannot exist together. That is why the ethical issue may be very acute in the future. Despite this, even if all this is done to solve the main problems.
Conclusion
It is essential to understand that companies and corporations, especially their ethical issues, are essential. Because a large part of work often involves virtual distance, managers cannot do anything about it. It is vital for the future to develop many initiatives that competently provide information about teamwork and its organization. In particular, managers must understand their responsibility and be able to organize people well.
