This story, unfortunately, shows the total value of today’s world. People stopped treating relationships as something serious. Cheating on each other has become the norm for someone or a kind of free relationship. At the same time, people take offense at each other when recognizing infidelity, although they could also cheat on their partner itself. It usually happens, as shown in the story, the family is far away, out of reach, and there is an opportunity to do something that no one will notice. However, as practice shows, such people are quickly exposed and disintegrated.
It seems that relations between people are a direct obligation to each other, which if violated, then there is no sense in these relations. Relationships should be built on love and harmony, but this is becoming less and less in our world. The world is ruled by money and other material values, and spirituality and loyalty fade into the background. There is also a widespread situation when the former in a relationship break their current relationship since they returned to their feelings for the previous partner. According to Chopin, “As she glanced up at him, the fear in her liquid blue eyes had given place to a drowsy gleam that unconsciously betrayed a sensuous desire” (Chopin 1969). It shows that instincts and attraction to former partners rule people.
Summing up, relationships are a responsibility; this opportunity is given to people to give each other love and happiness, but not betray and bring sadness. Everyone should understand that there are people who take relationships seriously and with responsibility. Everyone should think about and understand what it means to be in a relationship. Cheating is wrong; it is a betrayal that must be punished.
