The oral presentation can be a challenging task, particularly when speaking to an audience for the first time. Having people who are paying attention to every word can trigger confusion resulting in loss of words and focus. Poor pronunciation of words, mixing of ideas, and fear can affect the presentation of an effective speech. One is expected to prepare properly for the task and learn more about that the topic to avoid running short of ideas in the middle of the presentation. Allocating time to research and learning more about the selected case can offer beneficial knowledge, help respond to questions, know what others think about the topic. This paper discusses challenges experienced when preparing a persuasive speech, eliminating shortcomings, and advice to peers.
Identifying an appealing and interesting topic that aligns with the set objective and satisfies the expectations of the audience is a major challenge. The selected topic should connect with the audience, meet their requirements, follow the right criteria, and meet the objective. Having too much to say within a short period is another challenge in a presentation. This is because one is not sure about what should be left out, particularly when every point seems important. The other challenge is the failure of ideas to come out naturally or clearly due to a lack of appropriate words.
Challenges can be eliminated by defining the goal and understanding of the speech objective, including the interest of the audience. The presentation should be crafted in a manner that meets the provided guidelines and requirements. Understanding what the audience needs can help determine the language to use and information to include. Confidence and following instructions are important factors that everyone should consider when making a presentation.

Preparing my oral speech was a great challenge to me since it was my first time addressing an audience. Choosing the right topic for the presentation was the first task I had to address. I had to research, gain a better understanding, and identify information to include in the speech. This implies that I had to develop strategies for overcoming challenges to have a great presentation. Although I had mastered my statements, I run short of ideas and become blank in the middle of the presentation. I had to reconstruct myself and regain my control to continue while ensuring that every point is covered. I faced challenges such as mispronunciation and shuttering of words which I resolved by being more focused and attentive to details. My peer advice is that they should avoid being nervous or fear the audience. I believe that I am now more confident, strong, and determined to present more challenging speeches.

My presentation was faced with many challenges, including the poor ability to develop a strong argument to convince the audience and incorporate supporting facts. Since this was my first presentation, I was unable to organize my ideas logically, hindering my ability to offer a strong speech. Being nervous about the situation and fearing the outcome made it more difficult to respond to questions appropriately. However, I eliminated these problems by enhancing the understanding of the audience’s expectations and practicing empathy. The experience helped me realize that it is necessary to identify a knowledgeable and comfortable topic to support the smooth flow of ideas and reduce the time of research required.
