Conflict resolution is a process that involves a number of strategies that nurse managers must adopt in order to make the entire process successful. Conflict is something that is inevitable in any work environment and as a result of that, different principles need to be applied in resolving them. Accommodation and avoidance are some of the ways through which human beings respond to conflict that ensues at their place of work. A win-win solution must be reached if a healthy relationship is to be maintained and principles that can be applied here include viewing participants in the conflict as problem solvers and separating them from the problem. In addition to that, focus on the problem and not positions of those who are involved in the conflict. Lastly, helping participants to be able to come up with more options will be beneficial to both parties (Motacki & Burke, 2011). I have personally encountered conflict in a professional setting where employees were competing as a way of seeking promotion. This was resolved through having a better appraisal and compensation plan in place.
