Introduction
Healthcare is the absence of illness in one’s body. It is also the state of being in full control of your body. Process and requirements are drawn from the pharmacy act. Health is the state of wellbeing of a person, an animal or even plants. People are advised to take good care of their bodies to avoid any kind of illness. Take caution of your health and regularly visit health professionals for checkups. Health professionals can be found in health care e.g. nursing facilities pharmacies among others. Care, on the other hand, is being concerned about someone. It is also the act of treating or attending to someone or something (Farthing, 23).
Processes and Requirements of the Pharmacy Act
Pharmacists are required to meet some criteria to practice pharmacy which include: graduation from pharmacy school, completion of specified internship requirements, attainment of a specific age, must demonstrate a good moral character and must have attained a passing score on the licensure examination. The written test for pharmacy licensure is the North American Pharmacy Licensure Examination (NAPLEX).
A person licensed in one state is required to take another test if he/she wants to be licensed in Pennsylvania. In some cases, however, one might be allowed a license without being tested through a process known as license transfer. Pharmacists are expected to renew their licenses periodically. They are only required to pay a fee to renew their license. Renew of the license is done every 2 years in odd-number years. Renewal of work permits or licenses is mandatory and should be followed. Disciplinary action shall be taken against such a person. An additional fee of $5 for each month after lack of renewal shall be meted upon those people who do not have renewals.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Pharmacist
Only licensed personnel are allowed to practice pharmacy. The government plays a major role in regulation. A person has to be within the requirements put forth by the country’s laws. They should not offer drugs arbitrarily. This includes offering drugs that have been meant for a dead person to an ill person. This amounts to a crime. Only registered pharmacists are allowed to supervise repacking and labeling for convenient quantities. The bottle will bear expiration dates and company names or numbers that identify a company (Staunton and Chiarella, 5).
Process and Requirements of the Nursing Act
A graduate who wants to practice nursing can only do that when under the supervision of a registered and experienced nurse. An individual who wishes to practice as a graduate registered nurse shall submit an application for a temporary practice permit for a graduate registered nurse. The form is provided by the supervisory body of pharmacies and it is the one responsible for all the work it has to do. It has notable specifications that are to adhere to the letter. The government permit is due to expire after one year. However, it can be extended. This extension is also subject to a lot of examination by the government regulatory body. It is mandated to do that work by the government and has an oversight role. A permit is given for a short time to operate in Canada. It is served on a yearly basis and it is not meant for government revenue. Rather, it is meant to increase the regulatory capacity of the government on pharmacies (National Association of School Nurses, 12).
Duties and Responsibilities of a Pharmacist
A registered nurse is not allowed to practice in areas that they have no skills or areas without adequate knowledge, the nurse Is responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is fully accountable to clients for the quality of care delivered, analyzing the health status of patients, involving individuals and their families in their healthcare promotion, maintenance and restoration. A registered nurse has the responsibility of assessing human response and plans they also implement and evaluate nursing care for individuals of families (Staunton and Chiarella, 34).
How the Pharmacy Act Varies From the Nursing Act
A pharmacy is mainly concerned with drugs prescription, packing and repacking of drugs, nurses mostly concentrate on the patient. It is the responsibility of the pharmacist to make sure that drugs prescribed for human consumption are safe and prescribed properly on the other hand the nurse takes care of his patients and makes sure that his/her patient administers drugs according to prescriptions.
Conduct That May Lead to the License Loss
If a licensed pharmacist engages in arrangement or repacking of drugs with non-licensed individuals his/her license may be revoked by the board and legal action taken against him that could lead to imprisonment or being fined. If a term of service for your license expires and you timely fail to renew the board fines you an amount of $5 per month after renewal (Staunton and Chiarella, 45).
Conclusion
Eventually, taking good care of our health is our responsibility and everyone should ensure that they have done their part. In the event that something happens, we shall be safeguarding our health from any prescriptions and diseases (Abood, 17).
