Multiple Product Recalls
The sphere of trade and production faces the issue of product recall. There can be multiple reasons for the fact that the company decides to recall the good that was sold to the customer. In the majority of cases, the product contains hazardous materials that can harm the buyer or has a potential danger regarding the safety and health of the customer. Product recall influences the way people think about the company and it can consequently lead to a decline in sales and a bad reputation.
However, despite the stated above, the companies should recall the commodity in case any potential issues were found because the life of the purchaser is the highest priority and concern. The primary purpose of the paper is to discover the companies that have had multiple products recalls in their industry.
First and foremost, it should be stressed that the sphere of the automobile industry is associated with product recalls because of innovations and lack of testing. Innovative products can only be checked with time, and sometimes it is the fundamental reason for the product recall. Tesla Motors is famous for manufacturing modern, innovative electric cars that are popular across the globe. However, sometimes innovations can become a drawback as they are not checked properly.
In 2015, the company recalled 90,000 Model S vehicles that were sold to the customer because the employees found out safety issues, namely the problems with the seat belt (Hull, 2015). In 2016, for example, Tesla Motors recalled almost 3,000 vehicles model X because of safety issues and potential danger of the third-row seats (Hull, 2016). The reasons for the product recall were not similar, however, associated with safety.
To minimize the recall happening again, Tesla Motors dedicates a lot of time and efforts for the product testing. Nevertheless, it should be stated that innovations can be sometimes unpredictable. The company aims to provide the customers with the best service and wants to eliminate any potential risk on the road, and thus, the recall is taken place.
The world-famous company Johnson & Johnson is also related to product recalls. In 1982, the company recalled Tylenol because almost ten people died after taking these medicines. However, it was not a single recall. In 2008, the quality control problems were discovered, and Tylenol has been recalled again (Johnson & Johnson: History, Products, Recalls & Lawsuits, 2016). In 2010, the company recalled the product one more time because of the FDA investigation and discovery of the quality issues.
There were similar issues in the product. The company aimed to minimize the recalls; however, it should be highlighted that was engaged in some marketing scandals, violation of the manufacturing and quality control process, and recall processes. To minimize the product recalls the company decided to dedicate more efforts to the control system.
In conclusion, it should be pointed out that several companies initiated multiple recall processes. The reasons for the product recall were different; however, the fact that the organizations discovered some potential issues and started the recall process characterizes the enterprises as caring and responsible. To minimize the recall happening again, the companies take into consideration previous experience and implement new methods of the product check into the working process.
