The Middle East is one of the regions in the world, which is in constant conflict over religion. There are causes of war in the Middle East, which has continued ever since. I believe religious fanaticism in the Middle East is the cause of war, which has slowed development to bring prosperity in the region. Muslims and Christians from countries like Israel and Palestine dominate the region. The emerging conflicts in the region have slowed prosperity leading to the absence of peace for development. However, achieving prosperity in the Middle East can lead to peace in the region.

The religious intolerance between Israel and Palestine has led to continuous conflict between the two countries from time to time. The youths involved in these religious fights are poor making them direct their energies in fighting and disrupting peace in the region. Those involved in defending the religions waste time because they have nothing to do as a source of living. Giving this group of people something to keep them busy will minimize the level of violence in this region (Brown, 2008). It will lead to a prosperous nation with busy schedules for her people. It will result in peaceful coexistence in the region leading to rapid development.

Economic integration in the Middle East can be a source of peace if it promotes prosperity (Rosenberg, 2007). Both Christians and Muslims consider Jerusalem as a holy city, making it a uniting region. Marketing Jerusalem as a tourist destination in the Middle East where both Muslims and Christians can visit will promote peace.

Both religions will have a sense of preserving the region due to its perceived economic benefits. Tourists from other destinations fears visiting these historical nations because of the conflicts characterized by war associated with them. Bringing both religions to realize the importance of these historical sites will lead to prosperity, which will end the conflict (Cateora & John, 2011).

There is no trade agreement formed in the Middle East, making it difficult for any foreign company to operate in the region. Like the European Union, the Middle East does not have an umbrella organization, which can unite the nations in promoting their economic development. This has continuously slowed the rate of development in the region because of the existing barriers. Similarly, the different religions in the region have different policies, which control their interaction in terms of trading.

The disintegration of polices from different nations in the Middle East and lack of an umbrella organization are making it impossible for integration (Mrityunjaya, 2004). Instead, it promotes conflicts between the nations as they formulate harsh policies meant at taming their neighbors. Building a prosperous region through integration and forming unions will promote economic development, which will bring peace due to shared values.

Lastly, building in a strong democratic government in the Middle East countries will promote achieving prosperity. Most nations in the Middle East are authoritative in their leadership styles, which affects their relationship with other nations. According to Cord (2012), authoritative leadership in the Middle East affects the investor’s confidence hence very few are willing to invest in such countries. The Arab rebellion witnessed in the Middle East countries scared away partners from investing to bring prosperity. There is a need to promote international relation, which promotes prosperity leading to peaceful cooperation. This will increase the confidence leading to international aid when there are needs.
