Introduction
To begin with, it is necessary to mention, that the psychology of the teens is rather perceptive for the stresses of different origins. These stresses cause essential depressions in the weak teens’ minds, and that depression may turn to be fatal. The biological reasons of the depression are not studied, and at first, it may seem strange, that the youngsters, full of energy are subjected to frustration and depressions. Unfortunately, they are, and the depression may be added with the self-destruction (self-injuring, psychological destruction and even suicide).
Discussion
In order to realize the link between depression and self-destruction among teens, it is necessary to realize the psychology, and the way of thinking of the adolescents. Originally, teens are the kids, who consider themselves the adults. Consequently, they try to solve the problems that they are unable to solve because of the lack of life experience, and the excess of the ambitions, not supported by the real deeds and abilities. As the failures are inevitable, the teens got depresses because of the perceptiveness to different stresses. These failures may be of any origin: feelings, study, relations with parents, classmates and others. Failure is the stress that severely touches the adolescents’ mind. The lack of experience makes the teens think, that there are no other variants (as teens see only black and white), the excess of the ambitions make them think that the failure is shameful, and the soap operas, where everyone is happy, and where everything ends up well, make the teens think, that they are losers. These thoughts alone lead to essential psychological traumas and the appearance of complexes. Further, the thoughts may be attributed by the concept, that the world is unfair, the life is not worth living, and there is absolutely no meaning in the life. These conclusions end up with self injury (cut veins) or even suicide.
Prevention
The teen age is the period of extensive personality formulation, at it can not be permitted, that the teen was left on his / her own in this critical period. The elder friends (ideally – parents) should support him, and explain, that life is not only n black and white colors, that success comes only to those who do not give way to despair, and that success often covers all the failures, and brings much more satisfaction after a series of failures. The teen should clearly realize, that he /she may find support within parents at any time, that parents should be trusted. In spite of the fact, that teens always aim to be independent, it is necessary to give them real independence sometimes, as life experience can not be gained under steady control, moreover, this control depresses, and it may be crucial with the following loss of the trust.
Conclusion
In the conclusion, it is necessary to mention, that the link between depression and self-destruction among teens is not so obscure, as it may seem at first sight. It is obvious, and may be easily controlled, if parents or guardian fully understands the teen. The key point, that helps eliminate this link is trust.
