There are many different approaches to learning process in the world. Different philosophers, thinkers and teachers suggest their own variants. Each of them has its own basis and main idea. This paper is devoted to analysis of existing principles and theories. Moreover, our own strategy for teaching a certain group is created.
Analysis of existing approaches is possible to start with behaviorism. This philosophy states that environment determines all actions of a person. For a long period in the history, it has been the dominant theory in society. However, appearance of cognitivism terminated its strangle. Cognitivism centers around the inner world of a human being (Cognitive theories of learning, n.d.). While behaviorism says that the most important thing is environment as it determines behavior of a human being, cognitivism underlines importance of inner motifs of a person and his/her mental processes.
Cognitivism, however, does not appreciate human being like humanism does. It emphasizes great importance of a man, his/her conscience and individuality. It is the way of thinking, which promotes exalting of a human being. Constructivism is another famous theory which states the fact that people obtain knowledge experiencing some things and building ideas resting on this experience (Hein, 1991). Having met something new, people use already gained experience in order to obtain new knowledge. Nowadays, there are different points of view on these theories and all of them are implemented in pedagogical process.
There are seven main principles in modern education which help to create the most effective teaching and achieve the best results. Each of them is very important and has its own influence on the process of obtaining new knowledge. However, it is possible to outline the most significant of them.
Students inner motivation is very important factor as only being interested in what they do, people can achieve the best results. Moreover, motivation determines the level of students efficiency, that is why it is very important to take it into account (Theory and Research-based Principles of Learning, n.d.).
One more fact should not also be omitted. It is the difference in scaffolding, which exists between different students. That is why, it is important to create teaching strategies for every student separately. However, implementation of only one principle will not be enough for successful learning and only combination of all factors and principles should be recommended as it will promote achieving the best results.
Taking into account all these facts, it is possible to suggest own strategy which will ensure learning success. First of all, peculiarities of each member of the group should be taken into account. With this in mind, it is possible to choose repetition as the first strategy. It is not so creative, though, it can guarantee increase of the level of discipline within the group, However, the majority of methods should be based on the cognitive approach as it can promote further development of mental skills of the members of the group. Practice of rewards should not also be forgotten, as any human being depends on evaluation of his work.
Having analyzed the data, it is possible to make some conclusions. It should be said, that there are different theories connected with learning, such as behaviorism, cognitivism, humanism and constructivism. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, that is why a special approach should be created for every student. Taking into account peculiarities of the given group, it is possible to say that methods based on the cognitive approach seem to be the best choice for successful development of the skills of each member.
