The war depicted in the given piece of literature was fought in Lebanon way back in 2008. The war broke out after a solution could not be found to the protracted political crisis in Lebanon (BBC par. 1). From the recount of the writer in Turse chapter 12, it is evident that the war broke out of control. The fighting was tense. The main reason for the fight was the closure of the telecommunication network that belonged to the Hezbollah group.
In addition, Wacif Shkeir was dismissed as chief security officer of the Beirut airport. These actions angered the Hezbollah group. When the government asserted that the telecommunication network of the Hezbollah group was unlawful, Hassan Nasrallah who was the then leader of the group noted that the government had declared war against them (BBC par. 5). As such, they had to retaliate with passion in order to defend their sovereignty and dignity.
The case of Hezbollah movement is just one typical example of the emerging rebel groups of the 21st century. Most of such hit squads are common in less developed democracies. While their impacts on national stability may be ignored by the incumbents, they have a tangible potential of bringing down strong governments and eventually rendering them as failed states.
From experience of the author in this chapter, it is also obvious that the most sophisticated weapons are used to launch attacks and counter attacks whenever such oppositions arise with a territory. The manufacturers of such deadly weapon of mass destructions seem not care at all in terms of the devastating effects brought about by unlawful use of the same weapons. Perhaps, stiffer regulations should be put in place in order to curb the production and use of dangerous atomic weapons.
