The different sections of a research article are created to provide a structure that one may utilize routinely to make the projects easier and to assist you in adhering to the correct scientific technique. Having a firm section structure will make your research article easier to comprehend. To critically evaluate a research article, one must evaluate whether the research is transparent in conveying the article’s objectives to the reader (Sellbom & Tellegen, 2019). Ensuring that the research uses appropriate strategies to address any potential complicating variables is another step in evaluating a research article, and utilizing scientific methodology assists in determining the significant issues with a research article.
The prime objective of behavioral sciences research is to learn how people’s thoughts, desires, societal factors, situational impacts, and routines affect them. In applied research, researchers typically assist the client and are motivated by the client’s needs, whereas in basic research, research is typically self-driven and influenced by a person’s aspiration to learn more about a topic (Sellbom & Tellegen, 2019). One could follow their desire for knowledge through basic research and acquire the best data on a certain subject, which contributes to the body of knowledge (Altoè et al., 2020). Through applied research, knowledge is typically added to the existing collection of scientific analysis as well as the solution to the issue rendering this an addition to the body of knowledge.
There were a number of ethical issues that I was able to pinpoint, including informed consent, debriefing, participant confidentiality and withdrawal. As for the informed consent, the issue was addressed by providing the participants with information on what the study was really about and addressing the risks and benefits associated with the study (Altoè et al., 2020). The survey’s respondents were assured that their info would be kept private and that they were free to stop participating at any time for any reason and therefore addressing the confidentiality and withdrawal issue.
Going forward with this course, I would love to explore a topic like discrimination since it’s a global issue and there are so many forms, including racial discrimination, gender and workplace discrimination. Another topic that has picked my interest is technology since we are in the 21st century and technology is incorporated into everyday activities in our daily lives. Drug addiction is a sophisticated neurological disorder spurred on by frequent drug use (Sellbom & Tellegen, 2019). A research topic of particular interest is drug addiction prevention and treatment methods and I intend to carry out research on it.
