A leader entrusted with the mandate of leading a team in the health sector and other corporations requires zeal, competence, and capability. In regards to this case, forming a scheduling team in a nursing environment involves a set of crucial tasks. The first step is identifying the team’s goal and the objectives. After setting the goals I want to attain, I can start thinking about potential team members. It is crucial to choose team members with the necessary knowledge and capabilities to contribute to the group’s success. Conversely, I must arm my team with the resources and information they need to succeed after picking them. This includes information like a concise description of the team’s goals and expectations. Finally, I intend to establish clear communication channels to ensure everyone speaks the same language. I believe my team will successfully execute its mandate by doing these actions.
Before selecting a working team, I believe some crucial decisions have to be evaluated. I have chosen a four-step procedure to conclude my selection. One of the criteria I will use is: Identifying the team’s goal and the objectives the team is tasked with. This step is essential since it will help me determine the type of team I need and the skills each team member has to possess. The second criterion is to select team members according to their skills and background. This step is crucial as it helps choose team members with the necessary knowledge and abilities to contribute to the group’s success.
The third step which I believe will help contribute to a competent group is giving the group the resources needed to complete the task force’s purpose. The last step that I firmly believe that the step bears enormous magnitude in forming a competent group is establishing open lines of communication. This step is essential because it ensures that everyone in the team agrees and that the team can function as a unit.
To be a leader comes with an additional knowledge requirement. A leader should possess desirable characteristics to lead and execute the mandate. I believe my leadership skills and strengths will motivate my team. Some of my leadership traits include the capacity to develop rapport, encourage others when facing backlash, and communicate clearly in a manner other team members will feel comfortable. Having the required knowledge in nursing and general healthcare, I am a skilled group leader and have a solid understanding of the nursing processes. Being the first time in control of a group, two of my weaknesses are lack of experience and of familiarity with a variety of scheduling software applications which are sophisticated and require time to learn.
When establishing a team, I believe the essence of personal and career characteristics in a team member is critical. While choosing my team, some of the qualities and features I would look for in my members include:
- Effective communication skills.
- The capacity for independent action among members
- The ability to resolve critical issues
Effective communication is essential because it ensures that everyone in the team knows the obligations for each assignment. Working well under pressure is critical since there may be times when the unit is pressed for time and needs to move quickly. In team members, I would look for the following skills and qualities which I believe will further assist in the achievement of the group: – the capacity for efficient communication. Because it guarantees the team can work as a unit, working effectively in a team environment is essential. The ability to take the initiative is vital because it ensures the team’s independence and each member’s ability to contribute to the group’s success, which is a crucial aspect of a team as every member feels valued (Gunawan et al., 2017). Solving problems is essential because it guarantees that the team can address any issues as they arise quickly and effectively.
As a leader-to-be, converging a first-time meeting is a critical aspect of enhancing the growth of a team that will have a common interest in executing its mandate. Therefore, for the first meeting plan, I devote the meeting to getting to know one another and outlining the team’s goals. Team-building exercises can help with this first meeting as members deserve to bond for the future prosperity of the team. The group should establish ground rules and expectations for their collaborative efforts in this meeting.
I believe the first meeting of any members, be it in corporate or like in this case where health is the priority, should be precise and straightforward. In this case, when chairing this meeting, I consider the team’s mission and the goals I hope to accomplish as a team. Furthermore, I should think about the skills and expertise of the team members, which is the most crucial matter of the group. Examining the team’s purpose is crucial since it will help determine the type of team I need and the skills each member should possess.
