Organizational settings are high-pressure environments characterized by unprecedented factors and critical decision-making. As a result, Sharma (2013) explains that ethical behaviors and high levels of ethics in the workplace are the key to fostering positive relationships and enhancing employee productivity. The researcher suggests that people in organizations are occasionally exposed to dilemmas that conflict with either personal or organizational interests. However, most of their decisions are influenced by their morality and beliefs, which might not align with expected ethical standards (Sharma, 2013). Nevertheless, the concepts of ethics, morality and the law are beneficial in striking a balance between acceptable and non-acceptable behaviors. Although organizations have common ethical practices such as punctuality and integrity, individuals might exhibit inappropriate behaviors due to negligence and disregarding authority. Even so, managers are responsible for overseeing adherence to ethical standards by defining values, incorporating ethics into performance criteria, and looking out for hazards. Ethics is critical to organizational success because it enables efficient problem-solving and limits adversities. In addition, an organization’s ethical standards can affect employee job satisfaction. Therefore, managers should know how to evaluate organizational environments and champion change.
