Introduction
Education is a very important aspect of the life of every person. It is possible to say that under modern conditions, it is a very important factor which influences the life and career of a person and helps him/her to achieve success. However, much also depends on the quality of education and methods which were used in order to teach a person. With this in mind, it is possible to say that different methods and approaches should be used for a person to be able to choose the best possible variant for him/her to understand the information better. However, another question appears. Very often, scientists argue which method can be called the most efficient and should be used as the main during the process of teaching (Williams para. 1). With this in mind, it is possible to analyze two different approaches to books used by teachers and students.
Arguments for simple textbooks
There is an opinion in a scientific society that all textbooks used by students should be written in a very simple language. There are several reasons for this statement. First of all, the information presented in this way is supposed to be more understandable for a person and, that is why he/she does not have to make a lot of effort to remember it. Moreover, the textbook of this sort is easier to read as the absence of some complicated words and structures leads to an increase in the speed of understanding. Additionally, textbooks of this kind can be used by nonnative speakers as the level of knowledge needed for it is much lower (“Book VS textbook?” para. 4).
Arguments for complicated books
However, there is also another point of view on this issue in society. Some specialists think that only books that are written in good, clear, and complicated language should be used in the process of study. Adherers of this idea also support their statement with good evidence. First of all, reading a book of this sort, a person can enrich his/her vocabulary, which is very important for an educated man. Moreover, analyzing the information presented in an unusual way and with the help of some complicated structures, a student will develop his/her analytical thinking and, moreover, remember and understand the greater amount of information as it will be the result of his/her hard work and analysis.
Comparison
It is obvious that both these approaches have strong and weak points. At first gaze, it seems that the first approach can be more efficient because of the simple language used in the textbook to describe some processes. However, at the same time, it is possible to say that this very approach does not promote the enrichment of the vocabulary of a student and his/her ability to perceive and understand some complicated pieces of information (Maitzen para. 3). The second approach, at the same time, promotes the development of the analytical thinking of a student, though it can be too complicated for a foreigner.
Conclusion
Having analyzed information connected with two types of sources that can be used in the process of study, it is possible to make a certain conclusion. It is possible to say that both these methods have their advantages and disadvantages which are connected with certain fields of activities of a student. However, taking into account the main purpose of education (Jones para. 5), it is possible to say that more complicated books should be used for students to be able to develop their skills.
