How do individuals discover and exhaust opportunities? Development of ideas is key and fundamental aspects that coins with desire for money to relay human prosperity (Singh & Waddell, 2004; Drucker & Maciariello, 2008).

In a bid to perform this task, I will assess and justify the team structures adopted by SkullCandy and; also the primary sources of innovation they use to ensure that they remain competitive.

Types of Team and Discussion

There are four types of managerial team structures which determine the control of an organization. They are organized to facilitate regulation and development of ideas in a particulate strategy.

The four are functional, lightweight, heavyweight and autonomous team structures arranged according to their complexity (Drucker & Maciariello, 2008).

Functional team structure entails employees who are not allowed to integrate between the grouping apartments. It is controlled by a chief executive officer since there are no project managers. This team is appropriate for some derivatives projects.

Secondly, lightweight team structure involves a management where a project manager mediates the cross-functioning within the distinguished groups. The team requires low coordination which characterize it for derivative projects.

On the other hand, heavyweight team structures allow collocation of the staff. They have managers to mediate the cross-functioning (project manager) and to receive reports on performances (functional manager). This depicts a significant proportion of communicating and coordinating.

Therefore, it has been adapted for platform projects. Lastly, autonomous team structure is equivalent to the later, except that the team members report to the project manager instead of the functional manager.

This structure is prevalent and fit for breakthrough projects. Also, the same structure could be parallel with key platform projects.

This case depicts the utilization of lightweight and heavyweight team structures that facilitate cross-functional integration and strategies of ideas evaluation at the level of project manager.

It is identifiable that Josh Poulsen (product manager) had the responsibility to coordinate the members and ensure that work is completed on time. Major decisions on the field of designing are taken to Dan for approval. When the team has completed the design, a CEO (Alden) approved the process to start the production.

Lastly, their discussion identified that DJs prefer coil cords while other customer have the tendency to choose straightened cords.

The use of sources arose due to the necessity and the declaration that the team had towards initiation of a prevalent profit making company. There was a need to increase the opportunity identified by Alden.

Additionally, the team was willing to provide information regarding the need of developed headphones for the DJs. Otherwise, Alden had the willingness to fulfil his desires which had arisen from the call that triggered perception and developed this idea.

Apparently, there was low depiction of development in headphones since they had taken one mode of formation and designation.

In fact, the choice of DJs and complains about the single sided headphones that could only be worn on one way were tiresome and undeveloped. For these reasons, the team decided to apply these strategies which lead to a prevalent increment of prosperity in the companies.

The sources of innovation were used due to their availability and need to participate in the arising company. For instance, individual were willing to gather and give information regarding to the changes needed in the market.

The participants could, also, have been in dire need to understand and they took part in the prosperity of the developing company. Additionally, the use of development and uniqueness provided substantial grounds to advertise their product as new.

This prevents customers from comparing the other headphones as a similar product to the arising one. Also, it provided its own market. For instance, if the headphones did not have any unique quality, they could have remained in the same class as other already in the market.

Lastly, the main innovator (Alden) did not want to make a copy of other headphones that existed. He wanted a headphone developed from his idea or enhancement.

Innovation Sources

New ideas are gathered to facilitate the development of a product (Hammer & Champy, 1993). These could be experiences, data gathered from organizations and people, ideas arising from personal perception, and knowledge coined with experiences.

I will, therefore, describe the sources of ideas that assist to develop a business substantially and in a strategic manner.

Universities

Universities are the institutions that arm an individual with the knowledge and ability to perceive. For instance, if Alden was not educated and knowledgeable, it would be apparent that he would not have considered the idea of trying to make the headphones.

However, the experiences through the universities could have played a fundamental role. Additionally, some institutions have system that allows their student to present innovative idea for incubation.

These system motivates the abilities of individuals to think and realize that there exist opportunities to make money in the world.

Individuals and Users

People play part providing idea and supporting the progress of an idea. It is, therefore, vital for lead innovators to involve other people in their innovation for idea retrieval. This could be done by debate and discussion that help retrieve information and brainstorm the mind to think coherently.

In fact, these strategies not only revolve around the initial idea, but also lead to greater ideas that could even be better than the present one. On the side of users, making decision must consider the needs of consumers.

It is, therefore, crucial to consider evaluating the consumers in a bid to understand the problems that exist in a market. Otherwise, it is possible to make something with a defect that many customers had identified in other cases.

Government

Sometimes, government tries to provide opportunities to critical thinker who can develop great ideas for the best of the country (Flanagan, 1997). These strategies allow citizens to create jobs and earn from their skills and perceptions. In this way, ideas are funded or incubated for the best of the person and his/her country.

This could, even, lead to exports which brings foreign incomes to the countries. Therefore, the government is a key factor in encouraging innovation and initiating ways to improve the economy.

NGO’s

Non-government organizations, also, have the acumen to encourage people in providing ideas. These ideas could be to develop their organization, to improve the proceedings of the organization, or to fund the person in incubating his/her business idea.

Additionally, when the organization staff members meet, they develop idea to implement and develop their present product. It is crucial to note that development is vital in the current fastidious world (Ingold, 2006). There must be implementations of strategies that lie hand in hand with the globe.

In this case, there was the use on individuals/users and companies. For instance, there were discussions that allowed sharing of ideas and deciding the best ideas to implement in the company. Additionally, the customers were assessed to retrieve the knowledge regarding consumer needs.

For this reason, Skullcandy identified that there is a need for a two way headphone and dust resistance types. We, also, noted that Alden was a founder to another company. This company had armed him with the skills to use and the ability to discover more opportunities in the market.

These sources were selected for their reliability and availability. The participants were ready to provide ideas for free. Also, the information regarding headphones developments were available and did not require any capital to access.

Conclusion

The desire for money motivates individual to identify and establish the channels that can make money (Sen, 2008). Consequently, thinking and retrieving information by all possible means could significantly assist us to create effective businesses in the globe.

We must remain alert and facilitate the mind’s perception to relay ideas. When these ideas are perceived, we should take action of trying in all strategies to implement them before they disappear (Mkhize & Ruttan 1978).

This is parallel to the postulation that fast implementation of ideas allows vivid image of progress and refutes arrogance of performance (Drucker 1985). Therefore, it is vital to act as soon as we identify an idea.
