Economic reasons were the major causes of the slavery in America in which the slaves were sold to Americans at cheap prices whose main work was to offer manual work in various economic activities. These slaves were captured from Africa, Middle East and Far East among others and transported to America in which they served as cheap labor for many economic activities including the construction of buildings and also in industries for production of various commodities (Gephardt, 1984).

The British also economically benefited from the slavery trade because they earned an income from selling these slaves to Americans in which they captured the captives from their colony countries. This aim of British taking the slaves to America to serve in manual work was also on economic reasons (Santa, 1984).

The slavery trade especially by South American was also encouraged to serve in cotton farms in which the produced cotton was sold in other countries. In this perspective therefore this slavery in South America can still be argued to have been as a result of economic reasons. The conflict between the southern and the northern American also contributed a lot in the slavery in America in which the southerns opted not to work as the cheap labor from Africa and other parts of the world was being offered to them to do most of the manual work in various activities (Graebnor, 1978).

Lastly, the ultimate cause of the slavery in America was colonization in which most colonies in America came with free labor from other parts of the world during which the American states were in the process of developing their infrastructure for development projects. The main suppliers of these slaves were the British who were also the main colonial power during that time (Gephardt, 1984).

The slavery in America which started in the year 1679 was based only on economic reasons in which the ultimate cause of many development projects that happened in America during the colonial era in America. Generally the slaver in America constituted of the largest proportion of human labor that boosted the economic development in America as it is observed today.
