Introduction
Each professional role has its specific features and includes certain functions. The implementation of the functions of a social worker presupposes certain conditions, such as the social worker’s understanding of the client’s problems and the social worker’s ability to adequately perceive the client’s problems. The mandatory roles of a social worker are the positions of researcher and mediator.
Social Worker as a Researcher
From the position of the attitude of a social worker to new knowledge, their research roles are distinguished as a consumer of knowledge and a creator of knowledge, that is, the role of the researcher (Johns & Davey, 2019). Implementing the research component in the activity, the social worker competently collects empirical information and summarizes it.
Social Worker as a Mediator
A social worker acts as a mediator, who is a link between children and adults, the family and public services, organizations, and institutions designed to take care of the spiritual, physical, and mental health of the population (Johns & Davey, 2019). It promotes mutual understanding between individuals and their environment.
Conclusion
The social worker acts as an intermediary between the client and the society. With the help of the roles of researcher and mediator, they contribute to the effective adaptation of the client in society.
