Introduction
Sociology is the study of social environment around human beings and the influence that the social environments have on human life. Human beings are social animals, they interact with each other at close range, they also depend on each other for live-hood in one way or another; sociology concerns itself with the study of social interaction and dynamics within the society.
The society that we live has intricate connections with our behaviors and individual life changes, the exposure that someone gets from his/her society has an influence on his/her personality development, sociology looks into these unseen forces within the community, it facilitates better understanding of humanity and the world in general.
Social behavior
Studying sociology has positive effects on the scholar studying it; the advantages are dependent on the reason that one had when studying the subject. The fast that the unit focuses on human life in a society, it cuts across many other professionals. For example, a scholar in art will need some sociological knowledge to know the kind of colors, texture and drawings to make, whereas a businessperson needs sociological knowledge to understand market dynamics for effective business decisions.
Sociology involves the study of social structures within a society and the effects that the structures have on human beings; these structures include groups, organizations, communities, and social categories, when these groups are understood, they offer knowledge required for making various decisions to attain specific goals of the decision maker. For example a political scientist need to understand group dynamics in the community that he/she is practicing his profession, such knowledge will enable him make responsive decisions to people needs for a successful career.
Human behavior, perceptions, attitudes, actions, and opportunities are elements of the society that one has been brought up in, when the social dynamics are understood, and then someone can be able to understand himself as well as respect the diversity in the community. When someone understand whom they are, and can respect other people, it leads to a community with less worries and good social interactions.
The subject analyses individuals and collectivities constructs, when these dynamics are understood, then managing humanity either directly or indirectly is enabled. There is a fact in sociology that humanity is not constant, there are emerging trends and changes that need to be managed in a different way than they are done today; a sociologist is able to predict and fore manage changes that are likely to happen within the society.
Sociology is concerned on changes affecting a community, its analyses where the change comes from, why the change and effects of the change, this facilitates planning, accomplishing, and adapting policies that are responsive to the change. For example, a market is likely to be affected by consumer behavior and trends, to understand the response that he should take in a change, as well as predict the behavior; such a person needs proper mastery of sociology.
Conclusion
Sociology assists human beings understand social dynamics that shape different particulars of lives; the social dynamics include culture, inequality, deviance, socialization, power, cooperation, deviance, conflict, exchange, and inequality.
An understanding of these social forces assists people understand the connection between large-scale social forces and personal experience; when understood, it facilitates making of sound decisions (Giddens 2-23). From the discussion above, sociology can be said to be a course that interpolate social life and its effects on humanity, it across all professions.
