Introduction
Changes in criminal justice were necessary to balance policy and practice. Achieving the four strategic objectives would help build citizens’ confidence in the justice system, ensure the fair and efficient handling of criminal cases, and reduce the number of incorrect verdicts and errors within the system.
Objectives
The first strategic objective is to improve the quality of evidence and reduce the number of false convictions. This requires introducing new methods and technologies in the criminal justice process, enhancing the professionalism and skills of law enforcement agencies, and providing access to expertise and advice in complex cases (Ghouri et al., 2019). This will reduce the likelihood of inaccurate statements and help prevent mistakes in criminal cases.
The second strategic objective is to increase transparency and openness in the legal system. This requires simplifying procedures, ensuring free access to information on the justice system and its results, and strengthening mechanisms for public oversight of law enforcement agencies and courts (Buhmann et al., 2020). This will help increase citizens’ confidence in and the legitimacy of the justice system.
The third strategic objective is to ensure that criminal cases are dealt with promptly and fairly. To that end, it was necessary to streamline procedures, reduce the time taken to process criminal cases, strengthen mechanisms for alternative conflict resolution, and implement measures for rehabilitating and resocializing offenders (Bibri et al., 2020). This will help to facilitate the limitation on the justice system and ensure more efficient and fair treatment of criminal cases.
The fourth strategic objective is to reduce the number of crimes and increase society’s security level. To that end, it was necessary to strengthen crime prevention and prevention mechanisms and to ensure that perpetrators were adequately and effectively punished. This will help reduce crime and increase public safety, essential for any nation’s healthy development and prosperity. Fulfilling these strategic objectives will balance criminal justice policy and practice.
Therapeutic Models
Restitution involves restoring rights and compensating for the damage caused by a crime to the victim or to society. Various models of a vital system can be divided into the following five types. The first type is the compensation model. In this model, the victim’s damage is compensated by monetary payments made by the offender or the State (Blatov et al., 2019). This model aims to provide the victim with the maximum possible reparation for the damage caused by the crime.
The second type is the rehabilitation model. This model aims to restore the victim’s rights, not compensate the victim. It provides measures to rehabilitate the victim, help her recover her status and dignity, and prevent such crimes (Da Mata et al., 2019).
The third type is the punitive model. In this model, the aim is to compensate the victim for damages and punish the offender. Compensation is paid as part of the penalty imposed on the offender for the offense.
The fourth type is the hybrid model. This model uses elements of compensation, rehabilitation, and punitive models. It provides balance for the victim, restoration, and punishment for the perpetrator.
The fifth type is the environmental model, which focuses on restoring social balance and peace to a society disrupted by crime (Decker et al., 2022). This measure compensates damage to the victim by improving society’s living conditions and safety. Each benchmark has its benefits and drawbacks, and the choice of model depends on the particular situation and challenges facing the justice system.
Conclusion
In conclusion, achieving the four strategic objectives of criminal justice transformation will help balance illegal justice policies and practices and combat crime more effectively. Using different models of the vital system will help restore the victim’s rights and reimburse for the damage caused by the crime. As a result, a fair, transparent, and effective justice system is the key to any State’s stability and prosperity.
