Recess is an essential component of the educational process, allowing one to switch attention and relax after a study load. It is precisely the nature of a respite in my class after intense mental activity. Physical activity, in this case, is only one of the possible scenarios for the change. Organized changes I apply on a case-by-case basis, without insisting on the mandatory quality content of each of them. Sometimes students need a break from the organized activities we do in the classroom. The work process must be necessarily structured and necessarily by the teacher, while I become equal in power with the students during the break. If I see that the guys need a shake-up, I suggest games and physical activity but do not insist on it if the students are not in the mood.
If there is a need for physical activity, I try to offer the most exciting option that will suit most students in such a short period. Our school is equipped with areas for specific safe physical activity in the corridors, which creates a necessary environment for a quick transition from the work process. In my opinion, the existence of the necessary conditions for active recreation is a crucial aspect of the implementation of outdoor activities during breaks. In addition, human health consists not only of the physical but also of the mental. The working learning process can be as exhausting as any jogging, and therefore students do not always need or even benefit from vigorous activity. Sometimes I invite students to discuss a topic and present the result of the discussion in class or let them go free swimming, allowing them even to be lazy. Defocusing attention, relaxing vision, and mental activity can contribute to more productive rest than physical activity. Consequently, I am willing to consider mobile activities as a possible fulfillment of the break; however, for the most part, I focus on a specific situation, always leaving the choice to the students.
