SAP is a system of enterprise resource planning (ERP), that is used for administrative and operational support processes. The ERP was based on a German business model. The most common motivations cited by some of the respondents for their SAP implementations are; there is a need for some common platform, and process improvement, the data presented must be visible, operating costs must be reduced, the strategic decision-making must be improved (Dhakate & Joshi, 2020). The comparable stages in the ERP journey are design, implementation, stabilization, continuous improvement and transformation. Each stage relates to organizational performance. An insight on various survival techniques for surviving SAP implementation in hospital is provided.

When dealing with online data using SAP, everyone is expected to do their part; otherwise, the next folks in the sequence won’t be able to do their parts. SAP brought about some significant changes in comprehending the duties played by each person. The workflow was severely slowed down after the SAP system was implemented in VLF since it was unfamiliar to them. Once people started using the system, that’s when people started learning about it.

Any efforts VLF sought to take, be it a new clinical procedure or service, were taken into consideration by the SAP’s capability because VLF integrated all of their information into a single database. The adoption of the bar code for pharmacy administration is one of the advantages of having all of the patient-related data on a single platform. Regarding the protection of patient privacy, there has been an additional benefit. Overall, the relevance of SAP implementation in hospitals cannot be understated. Thus, the stakeholders in health care sectors, should be proactive towards achieving effective SAP in the organization.
