The Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice outlines procedures for promoting patients’ physical health by medical experts and health organizations. Good communication skills promote public relations between patients and doctors (Cunningham &Vogel, 2019). The PMHNP is obligated to efficiently and securely treat patients in addition to being their advocate. A medical practitioner should be patient-centered, promote teamwork, and be goal-oriented (Fazio & Pace, 2018).
The Care Practice defines the principles and practices of a standard healthcare system for people living with dementia. Notably, the latest version of Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice contains excellent healthcare goals, principles, and recommendations that enhance quality care practice courtesy of extensive examination of current data, best practices, and expert opinion. Therefore, achieving the philosophy and recommendations of the association is a shared responsibility between doctors, patients, and caregivers.
The family-Confusion assessment method looks into the patient’s conscience, attention, thinking ability, and acute issues. In the CAM diagnostic method, screenings are free and require no licensing fee. The algorithm is accessible on the Delirium Network and Society websites. The free Cornell Assessment of Pediatric Delirium can be retrieved from the Delirium Network website (Fazio & Pace, 2018).
I would recommend CAPD to my colleagues for the following reasons: the screening method is quick and takes a couple of minutes, unlike the CAM, which consumes up to ten minutes. Ultimately, CAPD tests the functionalities of the patient ranging from the psychomotor activities, perceptions, awareness, and orientations, unlike the CAM method, which focuses on the patients’ abnormalities only (Cunningham & Vogel, 2019). Additionally, the Cornell Assessment of pediatric Delirium requires no resources for screening purposes.
In conclusion, CAPD is time-consuming and only focuses on infant and young adult populations. The recommendations contained in the care practice emphasize patients’ values and requirements, focusing much on technological advancements. In addition, the association aims to enhance current professional roles that are knowledgeable, empathic, conscious, and goal-oriented. Equally, active patient consultations promote the desired goals of the healthcare association.
