The Bright clap Eyes – At the Bottom of Everything was selected for analysis. The main idea of the video and the song is that death is inevitable, and there is no need to be afraid of it. It is a funny fact that one of the most fun songs of this band is about death.
The first image I selected for analysis is at 1 minute 42 seconds (Saddle Creek, 1:42). This illustration appeared after the heroes realized that a plane crash would happen and they would die. This image is a puppet theater; on it, two clouds are playing with an airplane. For me, this means that he often does not depend on us at all, no matter how hard we try to control everything. Most often, we are just some elements in the hands of fate.
The second image is at 2 minutes 31 seconds; it shows planes that are stuck in a cloud (Saddle Creek, 2:31). In my opinion, this illustrates the fact that everything has its hour. These planes have not fallen yet, but they will happen later. This illustration means that everything has its time, and you cannot escape fate.
The third image is at 2 minutes 41 seconds (Saddle Creek, 2:41). It shows how the plane shatters into small pieces after falling. The small pieces here are newspaper clippings. In my opinion, this is not accidental since, after a plane crash, they cause a public outcry, and all the headlines are usually full of this. The second metaphor I see here is that there are only words, our relatives and friends after us; we remain only words in their mouths.
