Writing an introduction and thesis statement is a challenging task requiring a thorough understanding of the structure of an argument and its multiple elements. The introduction makes the argumentative essay’s statement of purpose and content (Rahman, 2020). My success was a short and precise summary of the conflict; the main difficulty has been writing a thesis. Admittedly, the essay has represented several contrasting opinions, which has contributed to its objectivity and made the argument mode compelling. The contrasting and arguable opinion would add a side to the conflict; the example source would analyze the actions of the US in this war. This essay has entire paragraphs with a cohesive line of argumentation. Thus, it has followed the basic rules of a successful argumentative essay. The conclusion requires additional work since every paper would have some questions that it cannot cover. Therefore, the statement of unsolved questions, topics for future discussions, and overall comparative analysis of sources would enhance the conclusion.
Remarkably, the described approach to starting an argumentative essay is not a universal framework. For instance, some authors agree that beginning to write the specified type of a paper with an attention grabber is not a necessity (Rahman, 2020). The element of attention grabber has to be added to add interest to the introduction. Indeed, the specified technique could be seen as desirable as one of the approaches to making a powerful statement, yet it is not a necessary component. Furthermore, the presence of opposing viewpoints will be acknowledged by incorporating reasonable statements from respective sources. Finally, strong robust paragraphs of argument will be constructed by integrating key rhetorical devices and strategies, including the active use of ethos, pathos, and logos.
However, creating an introduction that will immediately attract the audience’s attention is an undeniable advantage that must be pursued. It would make a controversial statement or dramatic illustration (Rahman, 2020). The sentence form and word choice must be reconsidered for a more impactful and argumentative thesis. For this purpose, the claim-support structure will be followed closely, with active use of evidence obtained from relevant sources. Any argument or opinion requires support with empirical data or additional expert views on the topic of war in Ukraine. It would reinforce the construction of the statement and paragraphs. Another idea to enhance the conclusion is to provide the consolidation of the discussed topic. In other words, explaining the argument’s significance would add validity to the argumentative essay. For example, it would be productive to not only state that the world is affected by war but to list economic and geopolitical changes and link recent news to the war.
