The COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected the music industry leading to the cancellation of all live concerts. However, with increased vaccination and the gradual opening of borders, live events have resumed, with various music bands and artists participating in multiple events. Since resumption, the Foo Fighters concert at Hipodromo de San Isidro, Buenos Aires in Argentina, was my most fascinating event. Although I did not attend physically, I followed the live concert online. The Lollapalooza Argentina festival occurred from March 18 to 20, 2022. Most live band events in Argentina often happen during the night to allow people to attend in large numbers. My favorite band, Foo Fighters, was performing on March 20, 2022, at 10 PM. The crew included Dave Grohl, Rami Jaffee, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, and Chris Shiflett. Essentially, the Foo Fighters band performed its rock music, including the songs such as “Somebody to Love” and Shame Shame,” for 2 hours, creating a unique euphoria that invigorated the crowd.

The shining lights and blue-colored theme across the Hipodromo de San Isidro bar walls elicited feelings of relaxation and joy. By the time the Foo Fighters band was ushered into the podium, most individuals in the crowd had already taken at least a few drinks. Indeed, there was a loud clamor when band members walked to the dais. The band started by performing famous songs such as “My Hero” and “The Pretender.” The audience was filled with jubilation as everyone danced in his or her unique styles. The combination of vocals and systematic drum, guitar, and piano sounds created a rhythmic musical tone, which inspired the crowd to help the band members sing. Nearly everyone was standing while other individuals expressed their gratitude to the band. The audience seemed energized and happy about the sequence of the songs and enthusiastic drumming led by Taylor Hawkins.

The musical experience moved to another level when they started singing the Queen’s cover song entitled “Somebody to Love.” Taylor Hawkins switched positions with Dave Grohl so that the former (drummer) could seize the microphone from the latter (lead vocals). Everyone was in the air enjoying the song, accompanied by high-quality acoustic sounds. At the time, the lights began flashing while changing to different colors in intervals. Even neighbors could not communicate due to the loud music that filled the room. According to Medina and Noorman 2020), Darby Slick originally wrote the rock song “Somebody to Love” before the Foo Fighters band produced its cover. The song has already performed well in the market, and thus, its replica only led to an explosion among rock music fans.

In my view, this live concert was exceptional because the band members not only sang their songs from different albums but also engaged the crowd. They also demonstrated professional dancing skills while the drummer, guitarist, and pianist exhibited their expertise in producing rhyming and high-quality acoustic tones. Significantly, the band comprises a mix of talents, every member specializing in his artistic aspect. For instance, it was soothing to hear the bass sound from Nate Mendel while Dave Grohl produced alluring and relaxing vocals. Finally, the band met the audience’s expectations by ensuring they sang their requests.

The Foo Fighters band offered an excellent performance at the Lollapalooza Argentina festival. Arguably, they had prepared well to exceed the expectations of the crowd. Individuals seemed delighted by the music as they danced in distinctive yet humorous styles. The venue theme, acoustic quality, and the incorporation of the audience led to a colorful and enjoyable event that nearly everyone would anticipate attending. However, the unfortunate death of Taylor Hawkins five days later created sad emotions, especially after reflecting on how he invigorated the audience during the event. Irrefutably, live performances by the Foo Fighters band are worth attending due to their humor and well-organized sequence of songs.
