Speaking about the formation of the character of any person, it is worth mentioning that everything that surrounds the person has a great impact on their development. Different things influence on people: family, friends, Mass Media, books, education and others. I must say that I’m greatly interested in history and that is why I used to read much about historical figures such as Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Napoleon, Catherine II, and others.
Every outstanding figure has a number of good and bad features, though people always choose the cult figure according to their good features. I must say that the figure of Napoleon had a great impact on me.
It is a fact that not many outstanding persons of the world history had as significant influence on people as Napoleon Bonaparte had. He aspires to expect everything that should occur because it is impossible to rely on a case, it is necessary to be always ready for everything, to operate immediately. He has nothing from the ideologist; he has three strong qualities in his spirit: realism, common sense and imagination. As realist, he puts interest of the state on the first place, as necessarily, and on internal belief. The technical organization of the working days is a graphic evidence of his diligence in this area.
I think that the most important thing is to develop the qualities of strong principles and fluent way of thinking. Only people who have such quick reaction as Napoleon had are able to govern themselves. It is very important to govern the inner emotions and to subordinate feelings.
The components of the military genius of Napoleon is a boundless confidence, that he calls “star”; his fast and rich imagination; almost supernatural intuition helping him to foresee the reaction of the opponent; this careful realization in practice of strategic principles, and the monstrous will power shown during the moment of acceptance of tactical decisions. I think that military art is a simple art, its essence is in execution; it does not suppose uncertainty; there is everything from common sense here, and nothing from ideology. It does not demand complex maneuvers, the simplest ones are preferable; the common sense above all is required.
The common sense should dominate. To my mind, feelings and emotions are the bad advisers sometimes and they do not allow choosing the right way to go. In such cases I always remember Napoleon who was always listening to his common sense.
After Napoleon’s death many researchers said that Napoleon was not great for his love to freedom which never had tested and had not aspire to approve. He was great that he had created a powerful and reliably working system of government, the code of laws apprehended by the various countries, judicial system, educational institutions, strong, active and reasonable administration which is used even now. He was great because he has made himself and managed to do this not having any support, except for his genius. He was great because he had managed to displace from the way all sovereigns resisting him, to break many armies. I can agree with these words partially. I really appreciate that Napoleon made a great contribution into the organizing the system of government and so on, but I think that he is also great for his love to freedom also.
Napoleon had a great feeling of leadership and I would like to have the same quality. I know that many people think that napoleon character is a character which is aimed to get power and strength, but I think that it is a character which is characterized by easy communications skills. If people like a historical figure it does not mean that they should be similar, but they can take only some features they like.
For me Napoleon is an example of firm will and confidence, the example of common sense and quick reaction.
The historical figure of Napoleon had a great impact on me. Though Napoleon did not win all his battles but he showed all his common sense and confidence while having them. I think that my striving for the napoleon character, my confidence and common sense is the proof of Napoleon’s impact on me.
