The gospel has a large influence on how I live my life. I try to incorporate its teachings into my life and ensure that my actions reflect the doctrines of Jesus Christ. I strive to embody the gospel of Christ by developing traits such as honesty, integrity, self-control, and fairness. Sometimes, it is difficult to live in a manner that upholds the gospel. For instance, I occasionally struggle with self-discipline and neglect my body by not exercising or getting enough sleep.
During such times, the gospel reminds me that Jesus and the apostles also faced challenges that they had to overcome to please God. Additionally, as a Christian, I am aware that other people observe my actions to see if they are in line with the gospel. I aim to represent Christ to the best of my capacity and set a good role model for others. In this way, the implications of the gospel affect how I live my life.
I can also communicate that the gospel is not just a point in time or a set of teachings, but a way of life. The way we live our lives reflects our understanding of and reverence for the gospel (Senior, 2020). In the modern era, living a life that reflects the gospel entails standing up for what a person believes in. For instance, such a life involves shunning and speaking against the unfair treatment of other people as Jesus did. This calls us to condemn unfair societal acts such as racism, classism, and sexism. Although it is impossible to live a wholly righteous life, an honest attempt to do upholds the gospel. When we do our part to live according to the gospel, we influence others around us to emulate us.
