However, addressing it is essential to maintain an ethically mature society as the state of the population is often evaluated by how it solves the issues with undersupported communities. Therefore, this topic must be discussed in scientific research and public media. A study by Butler (2022) and the TV program “Aging Matters” (Anfinson, 2022) are good examples of approaching this theme.
Healthcare of Underserved Groups
The study by Butler (2022) discusses the prospects of older adults’ care. It states that the current system is unfair and does not provide support for all eligible citizens. The main issues are lack of personal assistance, underpaid care providers, and the affordability of staying at these institutions. While the approach to caregiving slowly shifts towards personalized help, the other problems remain severe and prevent the sector from being a sound support system. Thus, the article discusses the current state of older adult care facilities and suggests that extra help from government or public sources is necessary for them to improve.
Anfinson’s (2022) episode of “Aging Matters” also discusses the problems in the current care system.
