There are several fundamental qualities that form a successful leader of any organization. A well-rounded leader can guide and inspire everyone around him. Their leadership style consists of authority, as well as a positive attitude towards developing the qualities of their team members and creating a working environment in which they can be open, honest, and productive. Good leaders can communicate effectively, delegate work, encourage strategic thinking, and motivate the team to work even better. Based on these articles, I have formed a list of qualities that a successful leader needs to possess (Hunt & Fedynich, 2019, Patel, 2017).
Self-government
Leaders cannot control people when they cannot control themselves. If a manager often loses his composure and turns to shout in communication with subordinates, it is unlikely that the team will be cohesive and that cooperation will be productive.
Responsibility
It is better to do something and try again in case of failure than not to do it at all. Inaction and shifting responsibility for the decisions is worse than a wrong step and admitting a mistake. However, taking responsibility does not mean ignoring subordinates’ ideas and doing all the work alone.
Perseverance and endurance
The ability to steadily follow the goal and cope with difficulties on the way to the desired result distinguishes a good leader from a mediocre one. Willpower, firmness, and courage to stick to the chosen course help to achieve the goal. Endurance allows them to fight fatigue and discomfort.
Awareness and attentiveness
A good leader should be aware of all the company’s affairs. This allows them to react quickly in non-standard situations and make the right decisions. Mindfulness helps to be one step ahead, thereby setting the right tone for the whole team.
Professionalism
A good leader needs to constantly improve his knowledge and skills to remain a professional in his field. Getting relevant knowledge, applying it in practice, and developing and improving their level.
Thus, to be a good leader, one must have a set of qualities. Such as self-management, responsibility, perseverance and endurance, awareness and attentiveness, and professionalism. All these qualities can help in building successful business processes and teams.
