Systems furniture, often known as modular furniture or systems workstations, is just a type of modular furniture that is used to construct office workstations. Despite the fact that few modern systems adhere to the cliché with standing-height panels, workstations made of systems furniture are frequently referred to as cubicles. The purpose of this paper is to describe the systems furniture choices for an open space based on a plan. Figure 1 presents a sketch for this space that shows the layout of the workspaces and some additional details. Based on the sketch, this configuration requires 6 tables and chairs, as well as some storage pieces and a round table with chairs.
For the workstations, Knoll’s Pixel C-Leg tables were selected, which are shown in figure 2. These are large tables that are designed in a way that allows them to be connected with other tables and offer seamless electrical wiring. Also, it is a great choice for a workstation as it can be moved easily in case the employees need to adjust their settings. The measurements for these tables are presented in Figure 3. These tables are compliant with flammability and environmental standards, as they can also be installed in schools.
Additionally, their lifetime cost is good since they are movable and can be placed one next to another; hence in case the customer wants to change the setups of the setting, they can reuse these tables and move them easily using the attached wheels. The manufacturer also offers a corner wedge for these tables, as shown in Figure 4, which means that for this floorplan, one can install two tables and a corner wedge for each workstation. For the dining table, Knol’s Pixel round table was selected, and the cabinets for each workstation are from the same series, which means that they have the same flammability and safety standards and will be easily installed. These elements are shown in Figures 5 and 6, and their main properties are showcased as well. Finally, for sitting, Knoll’s Newson Task chairs were selected, as this is their standard option that is comfortable for office work and can be moved around due to wheels.
These elements for the workstations were all selected to have a good lifetime value. This series of products all have additional elements that can be purchased to match the other furniture. Hence, if the employees need additional cabinets, other elements from the C-Pixel collection can be added. The same can be done if the client wants to change the setup since all the furniture pieces have wheels and can be moved easily from one place to the other. Thus, by purchasing this system furniture, the client can be reassured that they will be able to change the setup if they want to add more tables or change the layout. Additionally, if they move to a different space and will need more tables or larger cabinets, they will be able to purchase them. Another consideration was the safety and environmental standards, as the workspace furniture has to be safe in accordance with US laws.
