The role of co-workers in the satisfaction level of a job is very crucial. Once, I was involved in a community service project of giving training to rural children for a period of 6 months. In this period, I had a very good experience of both the worst employee and the best employee.
My boss is the best employee. He is a person upon whom standards can be set. He is very perfect in his job. He performs all sorts of jobs right from the lower level to the higher level and the level of delegating his work is almost negligible. He spends more time in the office regularly and finishes his work. He is a person who loves taking responsibility and enjoys the job. He really acted as a source of inspiration for others to follow. He achieves the targets and deadlines in the team by respecting the emotions and feelings of the co-workers.
The great quality that my boss has is a clear understanding of the capabilities of each and every member of his team. Based on these capabilities, skills, and interests, jobs will be allocated to team members. Another admirable quality in him is that he gives full support to his team members when we interact with other teams. He never gives up on any of his co-workers and protects them from other team members scolding or teasing them. i.e. All the co-workers are greatly respected by him when inter-department meetings take place.
I enjoyed and loved my work and was full of involvement and commitment because of this person.
The worst employee that I have met is one of my co-workers. This person has made me hate going to a job as I was put under a lot of pressure because of this individual. This person has a high level of absenteeism and his workload will have to be shared by the existing members in addition to their jobs. This person will be sick most of the time in the office and tired of doing any kind of job. This person tells a lot of excuses and always comes late to the job with an appropriate reason. This person spends most of his time in the office commenting on the co-workers and talking unnecessary things.
Delegation is one of the worst qualities of this person. The boss allocates the job to this person but in turn, this person assigns the work to some other person, who takes up the work unwillingly. More worse is this person gets a lot of credit for which this person has not even played a single role.
Another important quality is that this person concentrates on earning extra income by neglecting his daily activities in the office. i.e. There will be work in the office but this person will go for consulting in other places, earning more money and putting the burden of his work on co-workers. This really frustrates others.
Another quality is blaming others for mistakes. This person does a lot of mistakes and causes a lot of problems and points out another co-worker to be the cause of the problem. This person extracts a lot of work from the co-workers and never thanks for their good work but if anything wrong happens, this person will be the first to report to a boss.
The satisfaction level in the job for anyone is influenced by these types of persons.
