The role of nurses in the development of health policies and appropriate legislation is invaluable as they can rely on several methods to participate in this area actively. Thus, these employees can demonstrate their leadership skills by involving in community health initiatives while educating people and encouraging other workers to take part (Marymount University Online, 2021). They can also increase the awareness of organizations regarding “supply chain problems, equipment shortages, and the challenges of making care decisions during patient surges” for better service quality by discussing them with employers (Marymount University Online, 2021). As for legislation, their importance is connected to the fact that they have an opportunity to run for public office and thereby serve communities or develop initiatives to be implemented in the future (Marymount University Online, 2021). Thus, the nursing personnel plays a significant role in the existing programs and can elaborate new initiatives as per the most urgent needs.
The controversy regarding childhood immunization and the potential effect on community health, in the long run, is one of the main challenges of the field, which should be addressed concerning the current conditions. For instance, during the pandemic, the considerations of common good prevail, whereas the risks for this category of patients in the absence of global threats should be prioritized. It is clear that the nursing personnel can effectively resolve similar issues; however, these decisions should be made promptly. They require conducting a thorough analysis of the environment to calculate the risks to minimize them further. In the case of community health, the results of any initiatives in this respect can be efficient only when the possible outcomes of the acceptance of the rejection of this measure are taken into account.
