The role of research in healthcare is essential due to the reliance on contemporary trends of evidence-based practice for the generation of new knowledge and data. Indeed, as a specialist in the field of public health, one should be expected to function efficiently across multiple domains of one’s work. In particular, the complexity of scholar-practitioner identity implies the ability to comprehend the current needs of the healthcare industry, address them in properly aligned research studies, and implement findings in practice to benefit patients.
The criteria that would allow for evaluating the alignment of multiple components of a research study should include the thinking and analysis approaches that establish proper logical connections with the elements. In particular, the first criterion might be ensuring that the problem statement matches the literature gap, which would ensure the relevance and novelty of the research (McGill et al., 2021). Secondly, one might evaluate whether the research objective accurately addresses the problem statement. The third criterion is the establishment of whether research questions represent the manifestations of the research objective in detail (McGill et al., 2021). Finally, a researcher should logically validate if the selected research methods of data collection and analysis allow for easy and comprehensive answers to research questions.
The newly acquired knowledge and skills will help me as a public health practitioner to align my practice with evidence obtained from research. Since my skills of conducting research studies will help me generate new insights in the field of healthcare and find effective solutions to tentative practice-related problems, I will be able to improve the medical field. Overall, my role as a positive change agent in my practice area will be facilitated by the implementation of research projects.
