The film RV Robin Williams is an entertaining comedy for the entire family, as it covers many family problems and difficult situations in a humorous way. This story depicts dysfunctional family from the rich upper class who decides to start a road trip on RV, the journey that helps to reveal and settle all the misunderstandings existed in relations. Therefore, this film is also about dramatic and emotional problems revealed through interaction within the family where everyone is trying to solve the problem is his/her own way.

In the film, one can witness intrinsic interactions between conservative father and his difficult children who do not realize the veritable value of family relations. Hence, Cassie is more concerned with her personal problems, like all teenagers are. She does not notice her parents and teases her younger brother Carl. Bob Munro, the head of the family is more focused on career planning thus spending little time with family. His relations with her wife and children are reduced to driving them to school and bringing them home. Jamie Munro, Bob’s wife also forgets about real family values thus neglecting the importance of family. The decision to take on a trip is a brilliant chance for them to recreate the old values and to return the joy of family life. The difficulties they are experiencing during the trip foster the consolidation of the dysfunctional family.

The film explicitly reveals the problems of communications between the members of the family, as each one is trying to place an emphasis on the difficulty of personal situation. However, the hardships they are overcoming during the trip force them to balance the relations where each member should learn how to compromise and to support each other in critical situations.

The film also discloses the problem of emotional misbalance within the family. The fact is that family is always under the pressure of anxiety, stress, and marital distress that considerably influence mental and physical health of the parents and children. The emotional instability of family relations is revealed through unequal ratio of negative and positive relationship buildings. This is also explained by prevalence of one member of the family and reluctance of other.

In the film, the Munros experience the problem of generation gap provoking misconceptions between the traditional images on the family with dominant role of parents and distorted Cassie’s and Carl’s outlook on family interactions. This corner stone is predetermined by social and cultural environment created in the movie. In this way, Bob is implicitly dominant; he tries to bring the family together and is confident that RV journey will be a great opportunity to settle this problem. His wife is subordinate to Bob’s intentions and goals; she is more loyal and subjective. Cassie is more aggressive and dominant at the same time; she fails to understand the significance of family relationships. Carl is both passive and indifferent and, therefore, he is easy to cooperate with.

Drawing a conclusion, the film embodies an outright transformation of family relationships where journey turns out to be the best therapy. During the trip, the Munros are gradually realizing that family ties are the only thing that should be valued and preserved. RV journey helps them to regenerate the traditional family features, such love, mutual agreement, and respect. In the end of the film, everyone realizes that only family entity and consolidation can produce harmony in communication with the outer world.
