Even though there are a structure and unity in every educational institution, the teacher is a representative of education in whole and so, personal touches must be added. The difference between classes and teachers is what will make the learning experience more enhanced and add quality.
Balanced Literacy Institute and Teacher Cadre offer not only well developed and easy to use tools but also a diverse and direct approach to every individual. It makes use of the personality in the learning process and adjusts to the individual character of every student (Starbuck 51). The teacher will also be able to have many advantages in the teaching instruments. One example is the rearrangement of the physical environment.
A specific work area could be separated for each student. The desk positioning, equipment specific to their interest area could be provided so that everyone works on their unique task. The teacher would be able to use several technological devices, such as IPads, personal mobile devices in the form of a mobile phone or an iPhone, reading, and graphics hardware. Also, as a teacher, it would be advantageous to incorporate several subjects into one.
While studying biology or animal kingdom, a link could be made to geography and the interconnection between the climate changes, earth tectonics, and elevation.
The video footage could be used to demonstrate migration patterns of animals, the biological and chemical makeup of the organic systems and the connection between different sciences. In studying physics, the mathematics of geometry, graphical and video 3-D imagery can be qualified as a visual representation of the information being taught.
When attending to the personal characteristics of each student, the teacher can organize the class structure according to the order of subjects every student prefers. While a part of the class is working on literature, another part could be involved in computer technologies or arts. A more flexible time scheduling could be extremely beneficial. The students would be given a chance to have the class last for either twenty, forty or sixty minutes.
This would make sure that no one gets overworked, and a more relaxed study atmosphere will allow for better information retention. To add to the personal interests of each student, a teacher could invite different guest speakers after concluding a poll, as to who is interested to have a presenter come in and in what subject student display special interest.
This would differentiate from the regular routine setting, as well as allow students to learn of other teachers and presenters. A certain amount of time would be given to talking to each student individually. A teacher could have a certain corner of the classroom separated so that if a student has a suggestion or wants to share some personal information, this could be done in private.
This would reassure an individual in the support and respect that the teacher has to everyone’s needs. The interconnection between students and their teacher will help build confidence, more effective knowledge of personal skills and prepare for the future experience and further learning (Davis 60).
In the field, the teacher has no limitation, as to how far they want to take their teaching methods and what sort of techniques to use. Every person who chooses a profession as a teacher has their own imagination and this would greatly aid in the process.
