The 1990s represented a unique time in American history when a vast array of opportunities were open to people almost immediately. The state of relevant tranquility that could be observed in the American socioeconomic and sociopolitical environment was the direct effect of the measures taken in the 1980s. Namely, the changes in the taxation policies have had their impact on the well-being of American citizens (Foner 959).

As a result, the 90s became the decade of comparative economic prosperity and the synonym of abundance, especially when compared to the developing economic crisis in the 2000s. The economic boom that the American population witnessed was significant for entrepreneurs, who enjoyed various financial opportunities. Changes in the taxation system led to an increase in the GDP per capita, causing a rise in prosperity levels.

George Bush’s Inaugural Statement

America’s path to economic, political, and social stability was not easy, with multiple obstacles to be overcome. However, the U.S. managed to thrive despite all odds and multiple inconsistencies within its economic, legal, and social relationships. Thus, the U.S. received a chance to guide other states to accept the idea of democracy. However, the attempt at painting every action of the U.S. as entirely selfless and aimed at protection would mean overlooking the bad decisions that the U.S. government has made over the years of its existence. For example, the infamous policy of segregation that was implemented in the U.S. in the first half of the 20th century should be mentioned.

The policy indicates that not all of the intentions of the U.S. government were geared toward democracy and prosperity (Foner 1020). While appreciating the cultural legacy of the American nation is important, one should also be aware of past mistakes to avoid repeating them in the future; therefore, I have to disagree with the statement since it requires adjustments.
