Does the World Need a Single-Superpower to be in Charge of the World Economy?
This question came to my mind after reading the 2017 Special Report. Its introductory section, titled Emerging Markets are Up and Running, was talking about how President Trump’s populist tantrums have caused the prices of the assets of the emerging markets to decline (“The Sticky Superpower”). This question relates to the things I have read in the 2015 Special Report as well, as it talks about the idea of the exceptional American position in the world economy. As it stands, the current system is very unstable, and it reacts negatively to every flinch, every movement, and every word spoken by the leader of the American nation. If so, does the world really need the USA to be in charge of its economy?
